As I opened my eyes, I could see the sunlight coming into my room even though the curtains were closed. I couldn't believe that I managed to sleep through the night after what happened.

Well, I knew one reason why.

But I looked over and the other side of my bed was empty.

Fair enough.

Maybe he didn't want my parents to check in on me and see us in bed together.

I grabbed my phone off of my nightstand to check the time. Half-past eleven. I think this was the longest that I've slept in a while.

There were no notifications of people asking me if I was ok, so I guess everything had been kept under wraps for now. I was thankful for that.

The healing process ahead of me would be long.

I grabbed my crutches off of the floor and went downstairs.

My parents, Beau, and Archer were all in the kitchen.

Before I got down here, I was expecting them to be eating or watching TV. The energy in the room felt off.

My mom and Archer were pacing as my dad looked at his computer. Beau was rubbing his temple as he sat at the island.

"What's wrong?" I immediately asked.

My mom looked up at me. "It's nothing, peanut. Are you hungry? Do you want me to make you something?"

I studied their faces.

My mom was trying to distract me, my dad's lips were pressed together, Archer's jaw was clenched, and Beau didn't even look at me.

"It sure doesn't feel like nothing." I huffed.

"Beau, you promised that you would let me all the way in." I crutched my way over to him.

He let out a deep breath. "Don't get upset."

"Beau!" Archer exclaimed.

Beau faced me. "I can't lie to her."

He flipped his phone around to show me a long text message.

Oh my god.

Andrew was so fucking sick for that.

My jaw dropped. "They can't do that."

Beau pulled out a chair at the breakfast table. "Sit down please."

"I'm working on a statement right now." my mom spoke as he helped me sit down.

"What kind of statement?" I questioned.

Archer handed me an ice pack.

I guess it was for my eye.

I wondered how bad it looked today.

"It just says that Beau acted in defense of another student. We know you don't want your business out there, so we aren't saying any names." my dad responded.
