when I was younger I used to say "booger" instead of "burger" cause I didn't know, and I remember once the lunch lady made fun of me and i got mad, so I grabbed the burger and left without paying 😭

one of kehlani's team mates had a nose bleed and was on the ground. the other team snickered.

Josiah: what happened?
???: that other girl elbowed jamie in the face!

kehlani ran over to this "jamie" girl and held her nose with her own jersey, not caring to get blood on it. she yelled at someone to get her some paper towels and soon enough they had given the girl some tissues. kehlani reassured something to her teammate and then went to go sit her out. kehlani stomped over to the other side of the court and started yelling at the girl who had hit jamie. kehlani was short compared to the girls on the other team.. and hers. her coach held her back and told her to calm down, even as she was walking away she was pointing and yelling stuff at the other team. I chuckled, it was the first time i had seen her mad, it was cute

???: you're josiah, right?

I flinched and looked back at the girls behind me

Josiah: ..who?

the three of them chuckled

???: your hair is popping out from the front

I quickly tucked in the hairs that were sticking out of my hoodie

???: lani hasn't been interested in anyone like this in a while

"lani?" they're definitely close, I have to make a good first impression!

Josiah: she said that?
???: well no, but it's pretty obvious

I couldn't help but smile a bit

???: what about you
Josiah: what about me
???: do you like her?

I honestly don't know what to feel. on one hand I have lisette.. I for sure know I like her.. or.. liked her? i just haven't been able to talk to her as much anymore.. and the vibe feels different. then I have kehlani.. she makes me feel nervous and all tingly inside. like when you're on a roller coaster and you get that feeling in your stomach. we kissed.. we flirt.. yet somehow.. it seems wrong of me to just forget about lisette.. and I cant figure out why

Josiah: ..I-

the buzzer went off and the crowd cheered kehlanis name. the girls who had made fun of her got up and left. I looked over and the score board was 48 to 30. everyone got up from the bleachers and ran over to congratulate their team.

Guy: kehlani! you were so cool out there!
Girl: it was awesome!
Guy: let's hang out sometime!
Guy: let me buy you lunch after this!

everyone pushed around me trying to get to kehlani, for once it felt like I was the normal one and she was the celebrity. I took my mask and hoodie off and kehlani made eye contact with me. she immediately smiled and made her way to me, ignoring all of the other people trying to get her attention.

Kehlani: hey! I thought you couldn't make it!

she laughed and she gave me a quick hug

Kehlani: ah sorry, i'm all sweaty
Josiah: oh my gosh sweat, that's like so disgusting

I sarcastically said, she laughed and we looked over at her friends who were covering their mouths and giggling at us. she blushed and laughed it off

Kehlani: let me go take a shower and change out real quick- ..or did you have somewhere else to be?
Josiah: no no, i'll wait for you outside
Kehlani: okay!
