Alessio let out a long and painful groan as he rolled on the asphalt, clutching the spot where I had kicked him.

"Jeez, did it really hurt that much?" I asked, trying my best to sound sympathetic, but failing to hide the smirk that betrayed my amusement.

He sat up slowly, still grimacing and holding onto his groin, and let out an even louder groan, his eyes tightly shut while he cried out in pain. I couldn't help but shake my head at his exaggerated reaction.

"Alessio, you're insane! It's late, and you might attract some unwanted attention if you're not careful," I whispered fiercely, wishing I could shout at him for his reckless behavior.

"Say you're sorry!" he commanded, falling to the ground and rolling around like a baby with a dirty diaper.

I facepalmed, finding his behavior ridiculous and cute at the same time. I lowered my hands to my face once again, struggling to contain the giggle that was threatening to escape.

"Okay, fine, I'm sorry," I apologized, expecting him to at least stop laughing at my sincere admission.

Surprisingly, he burst out laughing even more, sitting up and hunching over with his arms resting on his knees.

This guy is a complete lunatic, I thought to myself, gritting my teeth in annoyance as his infectious laughter continued unabated.

"Where's the circus?" I joked, struggling to maintain my composure amidst his relentless charm.

"Did you actually think kicking me with those... those..." he paused and burst out laughing, gesturing towards my lower limbs, "those flimsy things were going to make me cry?" His British accent was unmistakable.

What is he talking about? My legs? How dare he! My legs may not be my strongest asset, but they are not flimsy either.

"Flimsy things?" I repeated incredulously.

"Just give me a hand, will you?" he asked, reaching out for support.

"You're unbelievable! First you spy on me, insult me, stalk me, and now you mock my appearance!" I exclaimed, gesturing towards the spilled groceries a few feet away.

"You insult me and my abilities, and then expect me to help you?" I fumed.

"I'll manage on my own then. You could have just said no." He stood up, revealing his imposing form, and I couldn't help feeling intimidated. This guy could make anyone do his bidding, including me. It was a scary thought, considering that I barely knew him.

After brushing off his black jeans, we continued with a heated argument before I reluctantly agreed to let him give me a ride home. Maybe he could even come up with a good excuse for the "murder" of my groceries to tell my mom.

He even suggested that he pay to replace the items, but I stubbornly refused. I suppose my pride got the best of me.

10:45 PM

"You really do seem to enjoy making my life difficult, don't you?" I couldn't help but ask as we climbed into his sleek Porsche Cayman.

"Oh, tiny, you're positively adorable when you're angry," he chuckled, his eyes focused on the dark road ahead.

What an irritating man!

"You look like you're ready to tear my hair out," he noted, glancing over at me with his messy brown hair that was impossible not to admire. I smiled at the thought.

"I could definitely do worse," I joked, and he replied with laughter. The rest of the ride was filled with late 2000s R&B music and comfortable quiet.

Eventually, the car came to a halt in front of a tranquil-looking house. "Wait a moment!" Alessio called out, leaping out of the car and jogging around to my side.

"Allow me, m'lady," he said, opening the door with a flourish and offering his hand.

"Thanks, but no thanks," I replied with a roll of my eyes, refusing to take his hand.

He just scoffed in response.

Our footsteps echoed through the hushed suburban streets as we walked towards my front porch. When we arrived, I explained in detail what Alessio needed to say to my mom, but I got the impression that he wasn't paying attention.

"Alessio, please listen-"

Before I could finish my sentence, the front door flung open and my mom stood there, wearing a stern expression on her pretty face. She looked at Alessio with a puzzled expression, forcing me to speak up.

"Mom, this is-"

"Alessio, ma'am," he interjected, bowing slightly. My mom nodded, expecting further explanation.

"Um, well..." I hesitated, feeling incredibly awkward. I rarely brought boys home, let alone a gorgeous guy like him in the middle of the night. "Alessio is-"

"Your boyfriend?" my mom cut in, surprising me.

"Wha- of course-"

"Yes, ma'am, I'm Destiny's boyfriend. She didn't tell you?" Alessio replied smoothly.

"N- No," my mom directed her gaze towards me and queried, "is this true Destiny?"
And out of dismay, I couldn't even protest to this so Alessio interrupted again.

"Alessio Edwards. And you must be Mrs. Brown. Lovely meeting your acquaintance ma'am. You're every bit as beautiful as your lovely daughter," his accent pronounced every word so sexily.

"Is this true, Destiny?" my mom asked, and to my dismay, I couldn't deny it.

"Why did you keep such a gentleman hidden away from me, Destiny?" she beamed like she had just seen a cute puppy. I nudged Alessio's arm, hoping he would correct her, but he just pouted.

"Mom, he's not my boyfriend!" I managed to say, hoping it would bring her back down to earth. But instead, she said the last thing I expected.

"Don't deny your boyfriend right in front of him. Don't you know it will hurt his feelings?" she scolded me, leaving me speechless.

I shot Alessio a death glare, but he just shrugged.

"Come on in, it's freezing out here," my mom said, leading us into the warm house.
