After school ended that day, Maya picked up Ty from his school and the two headed to have lunch and work on homework.

"Hey, um," Ty said, "I was wondering..."

"Yeah?" Maya looked up from her notebook and history textbook.

"You know," Ty said, nervously, "I was - I was wondering... do you want to go out sometime?"

"Yeah, sure," Maya said, confused.

"What I meant to say," Ty said, regaining some of his confidence, "was..."

Maya raised her eyebrows.

"Do you want to go out on a date?" he asked, almost hopeful.

"A date?" Maya repeated, stunned.

They were right, Maya thought. Ty does like me.

"O - oh," Maya said.

"Oh," Ty's face fell. "I understand -"

"No, no, no," Maya quickly said, "yes. Yes, I'll go on a date with you."

"Really?" Ty said, a smile appearing on his face.

"Yeah," Maya nodded, her face turning red.

"Great," he said, relieved. "Great. How about Friday?"

Maya nodded with a small smile on her face.

"Awesome," he said. "I'll text you later this week."

"'Kay," Maya said.
