i shut my front door and began steadily walking.

"light," said ryuk. i ignored him.

"light!"

i irritatedly sighed, "what?"

"where are we going?"

"to the market. now i've told you this plenty of times, stop talking to me when we're not alone!"

he looked around and chuckled, "but we are alone."

i continued to ignore him.

"so, are you going to do this all by yourself, light?"

"do what?"

"your whole savior, killing criminals thing."

i scoffed, "of course, there's no one else who will."

he continued his pesky chuckle, which once again, left me vague.

"oh, but there is, light."

i stopped in my tracks, "what? what do you mean?"

"in the shinigami realm, each shinigami has their own death note, and each death note can be dropped into the human world."

i furrowed my eyebrows, "okay, so what are you trying to say?"

"another shinigami dropped their death note, and it looks like it has been found."

i was lost by his phrase.

"do you mean, another human, has a death note?"

"indeed. here in japan, too."

i became motionless, "there's no way."

"oh, but there is. call it coincidental, or fate. i find this to be pretty interesting."

"who is it," i said, disregarding his last sentence, "is it anyone i know?"

ryuk wickedly smiled, "mhm, and that's up to you to find out."

"then what's the point of you telling me this," i hollered, "you always pull stuff like this. you're not helping me whatsoever, ryuk!"

"i told you, i'm not picking sides between you and ryuzaki. i'm just here to watch it happen."

i rolled my eyes, "my life is just like a movie to you then, isn't it?"

he shrugged.

"in a way, i suppose."

i decided to just pay no further attention to him.

i didn't entirely believe what he said was true, but on the other hand, he has to reason to lie.

he's done this before, when he told me i was being watched.

maybe he's trying to help me?

no. he said himself he's 'not taking sides.'

my mind began to wander:

in japan,

someone i know.

i attempted to recall everyone i'm acquaintance to.

everyone in my classes, everyone on the task force whom i've met, my mother's friends-

too many people. 

i must have more clues, more hints that will allow me to narrow down the possible suspects.

"ryuk," i murmured, "male or female?"

he hesitated, looking down upon me.

"female."
