"Ugh, I just want to squish his perfect little cheeks," you cooed, bouncing the baby in your arms lightly. "Little Hank Spencer."
Savannah chuckled as she watched you gently sway hers and Derek's newborn in your arms. They had wanted you and Spencer to be the first ones of the team to meet him.
You were to engrossed with holding the small infant in your arms that you didn't notice Spencer sitting in a chair on the other side of the hospital room next to Morgan, looking at you like you hung the moon. He was dazed as he eyed the simple but equally dazzling ring on your hand as you held Hank out in front of you, your perfect lips contorting as you made different faces at him.
It seemed as though up until now he had forgotten that having a wife welcomed the possibility of his own family. He hadn't given it a whole lot of thought before now—he knew he loved you and he had thought about children maybe once or twice, but the two of you having jobs at the BAU it had taken a backseat in his mind.
Until now.
"Auntie Y/N and Uncle Spencer are always here for you, little man," you promised sweetly. "And for you and Morgan, Sav. You know you can call us if you need anything at all."
"That means the world to us," Savannah smiled. "It's good knowing we have people in our corner when we don't have much of our blood relatives close. You all are basically our family."
Morgan hummed in agreement, leaning in to whisper to Spencer once you and Savannah broke off into your own side conversation.
"Do you think this will be you anytime soon?" He asked.
Spencer's eyes widened as he looked at his friend, "I mean, I honestly hadn't thought about it much before now. How does it feel, you know, to be a dad?"
Morgan chuckled, "Well, kid, I've only been at it for about six hours now, if you don't include the nine months leading up to now, but I can tell you that it's changed my entire world. I didn't know something so small could make me feel so much love."
"I didn't know something so small could make the Derek Morgan all soft and mushy," Spencer teased, earning himself a playful nudge in the shoulder.
"Now, now, you'll understand eventually. I mean, I don't know if it works different for genius babies, but once they come into the world it's shifts your entire perspective. Like this little thing needs me to make it in the world," Morgan shook his head. "It's insane and scary but amazing and pure bliss all at once."
Spencer pursed his lips and nodded, mulling over the words of his friend as he returned his gaze to you. You looked like you were made to cradle a little life in your arms, your expression soft and full of admiration as you watched the little one drift to sleep. Just then, you looked up at him and shot him a dazzling smile.
He was a goner.
As you exited the hospital, exhausted from the previous case that had wrapped up hectically in the same day, but contented. Spencer's arm wound around your waist as he walked you out to the SUV where Hotch and the others were now waiting. You all loaded in and headed back to FBI headquarters.
"Hank Spencer," you sighed as soon as you sat down in the drivers seat of your car, Spencer sliding into the passenger seat. "That's so sweet of them to name him partly after you. Just goes to show how amazing you are."
He smiled bashfully at your words, his cheeks tinted pink as you leaned across the console to peck him on the lips. Spencer had other ideas, slipping his hand to the back of your neck, pulling you in deeper.
"Mm," you hummed as you pulled back. He tried to chase your lips but you just giggled and put a finger against his. "As much as I would love to make out in the parking lot, I can't concentrate on much more than going home and getting in bed right now."
