Flame Breathing Tanjiro: Set Your Heart Ablaze

Tanjiro has been going around, doing his missions and killing demons. It's been 4 weeks since he had to leave Zenitsu and inosuke at that wisteria crest house.

Tanjiro has risen up the ranks, now being tsuchinoto. It's mostly just been him and Thor though, but the good thing is he's getting closer to actually being friends with his raven

Now, about his mission

A fairly small city has all of a sudden become vacant. It seemed as if everyone just disappeared randomly. Tanjiro was sent to go and investigate, see if it was a demon, and look for any remaining people

Which is why we see a rather calm Tanjiro in front of a city that looks as if zombie apocalypse just occurred in it. However, Tanjiro seemed rather calm. He decided to take off his face mask so he can sniff out things better.
The sun set three hours ago so demons should be coming out now

Man, is he in for a hard time

TANJIRO POV

The city looks dry and pretty gray, and I can't smell or sense anyone. Well, anyone that is a human, that is. I can just sense something powerful, as if it was right behind me, yet right infront of me.

Avoiding the feeling, I started to walk towards the rather small city, checking around the streets and cars. Every time I would take a sniff, I would smell nothing but rotten and old scents. No human scents. Not even animal scents

Where did everyone go? How would they just disappear without a single trace? Not even their scents were left behind. And that presence wouldn't go away. How can I sense it but can't smell it? What is going on with this city?

I decided to leave my questions aside and, after 2 hours, went inside a building. It looked all gray and worn out, like the rest of the city. I opened the door and checked inside, looking and sniffing out any signs of life which there weren't.

After a while, I was two floors under the roof of the apartment. To be more specific, I was around a hundred and twenty five feet off the ground. I have to be honest, that was a guest since the only thing I can do is look out the window.

Either way, I've checked 5 rooms in this floor until the scent of water hit my nose. It appeared to be coming from one of the rooms I didn't check. I walked right in front of the door to get a better smell

Big mistake

All of a sudden, the door started to shake and rattle as if it was about to burst open. The strong scent of water made me realize something

The whole room was filled to the brim with water

3RD PERSON VIEW

A loud *BAM* was heard as the door burst open, waves of water crashing upon Tanjiro and pulling him with the 'currents'. Tanjiro would try to swim up and gasp for air, but only for the water to bring him down and slam him unto the walls. The water would go down the hall way, bringing any object caught along the currents.

Finally, but unfortunately, the water smashed into a window and broke it, making Tanjiro go straight through the air. Tanjiro grunted in pain as he slowly opened his eyes, the world around him playing in slow motion as the water spilled out of the broken window. He was still in the air when he sniffed a demon right infront of him

Tanjiro gasped as his eyes widened. Right in front of him, in the air, was a rather pale demon that seemingly came out of no where. Tanjiro could only stare in shock as his body soon fell to the roof of a smaller building

He landed with a *Thud*, making him take a sharp inhale because of the pain. Tanjiro could only stumble and roll over rather roughly as he finally crashed into the stand of a ripped banner.
