Katie made a face as she opened her eyes and felt the cold. It was a perfect early summer morning of golden hues making their way into her tiny bedroom and she knew it should be warm. She should feel the heat. She could hear the familiar voice creep in as she pulled the thermal blanket tighter to her thin form. There was a knock on the door and Katie made a face.

"Katie?" The voice asked. "I'm here..."

Katie made a face and pulled the blanket over her head. She was trying her hardest to control her feelings, but it was just too cold.

The cold never bothered her though...

The door to the bedroom came flying open and Katie gave a groan as the side of her bed sank to the right, involuntarily rolling her into the hip of her ever so giddy roommate. It took everything in her subconscious to create an ice blast to push her off the bed.

"Come on!" She said.

"We do NOT have rounds today." Katie said. "It's Saturday! We are OFF! Go away Sarah........."

Sarah gave a laugh and yanked the blankets off her head but gave a shudder. She couldn't help but clench her fists as the chill subsided.

"Holy fuck..." Sarah said. "You sleep with ice packs or something? Damn, it's freezing in here."

She walked over to Katie's closet and started sorting though her clothes. Katie took a deep breath and finally sat up, giving an annoyed yawn. Sarah kept tossing her clothes onto the floor, Katie just rolling her eyes.

"What are you doing?" Katie asked.

"Your meeting with Dr. Raynor has been moved up." Sarah said.

The panic reached Katie like a slow moving car crash.

"What?!" Katie asked.

Sarah gave a laugh and threw an outfit on her bed. It was Katie's favorite outfit, and she knew it. It was her tight fitting black slacks that form fitted perfectly, her favorite red blouse that accentuated her chest in the best way possible, and her best pair of black heels.

Well, at least I'll look professional and...

"I'm sorry." Sarah said. "Both of us are needed."

Katie made a face and looked at her. Here eyes narrowed and she took a step forward.

"You're way too excited to be going in." Katie said. "Are we hoping a certain someone is working today?"

Sarah couldn't help but smile. Katie rolled her eyes and started getting ready. Katie was always the perfectionist when it came to her outfit and makeup, so, if she was supposed to be in at the hospital on her day off, she was going to look PERFECT!
