September 19th, 2005 - 7:23 p.m.

She kept her hands in her pockets as she walked, her bag slung over her shoulder. Cram school had just ended and she was just starting her trek back home, contemplating if she should stop by the supermarket and grab something to drink on the way. Maybe grab some snacks and go over to Chifuyu's to watch something? Maybe she should also get food for the kittens, wasn't it finishing up?

''Yo.'' She ignored the call, it probably wasn't for her anyway. ''Yo, I'm talking to you.'' This time she turned around at the unfamiliar voice only to be met with an unfamiliar face.

''Uh . . .'' she turned around and quirked an eyebrow at the tall boy in front of her. ''Do I know you?''

He chuckled. ''You don't,'' Hanma said, a weird smile crossing his face. ''But I know you.''

There was a weird feeling in the pit of her stomach screaming he was dangerous. ''That's, uh . . . interesting. But, you know, my parents always tell me not to talk to strangers, you know-''

''Oh, I'm not a stranger,'' the guy spoke, running a hang through his hair. She could notice a tattoo on the back of his hand saying 'sin' and she couldn't help but wonder who that guy is. ''Your boyfriend, Chifuyu, and I are . . . acquaintances. I'm in a gang, like him.''

She crossed her arms in front of her chest. Now was not the time to correct her relationship with Chifuyu to strangers. ''And that concerns me how?'' A creepy smile took over his face and Y/n couldn't help but feel chills run down her spine. ''You know, I'm kind of in a hurry, so I'll just-''

Fingers wrapped around her wrist as she tried to turn around and walk away from the weird guy, preventing her from moving. ''Hey, the hell? Let me go!''

Chifuyu whistled as he walked down the street on his way to pick up Y/n from her cram school so he can walk her home and maybe grab some snacks on the way. They could finally hang out again and even his friends had noticed the change in attitude when she wasn't as busy anymore.

When he heard a feminine yell he looked up from his shoes, noticing Y/n's familiar backpack. She was trying to get away from none other than Hanma, who was holding her wrist as she struggled to break free.

''What the hell?'' Chifuyu picked up his pace, running towards Hanma and punching him under his jaw and causing him to loose his grip on Y/n. ''The hell do you want, Hanma!?''

Hanma held his jaw as he straightened up and looked at Chifuyu. ''Ah, Chifuyu.''

''Answer me, the hell are you doing here?'' Chifuyu said as he pushed Y/n behind himself. ''You here to start another gang fight? Didn't Moebius disband?''

''I never mentioned Moebius, did I?'' Hanma said, letting his hand fall from his sore jaw. ''Besides, I was just here to say hi to your little girlfriend.''

Chifuyu's stomach churned at his words, remembering what had happened to Pah's buddy and his girlfriend. He was not going to let this happen to Y/n. ''Don't approach her again or you'll have the whole of Toman to answer to, Hanma.''

He simply grinned at Chifuyu like the crazed guy he is. Chifuyu grabbed Y/n's wrist and pulled her away, glaring at Hanma until he was out of sight.

''Chifuyu.'' He looked at her once she spoke. ''Who the hell was that?''

''Shuji Hanma,'' Chifuyu started explaining. ''He's from a rival gang that got disbanded not too long ago. There's something wrong in his head, I swear. He's weird as fuck.''

Y/n nodded. ''Yeah, I noticed. Thanks for saving me,'' Y/n said, still letting him hold onto her wrist. ''Why were you here, anyway?''

''I was gonna pick you up from cram school to hang out,'' Chifuyu said, feeling heat rising to his cheeks. ''But maybe you're not in the mood for that anymore. I'll just walk you home.''

Y/n wrapped her arm around his just as they came across the supermarket, stopping his movements. ''No, I think I'd rather hang out to distract me. Can we grab some snacks?''

Chifuyu smiled, even if he was still worried about what Hanma wanted with her. ''Yeah, sure.''

He let her drag him inside the supermarket and choose the snacks as well - thankfully, she had taken the sour and cream chips this time. ''Look, there's some cheap movie CDs. You wanna fish for one and watch it when we get home?''

''Those movies are probably crappy.'' Chifuyu eyed the box of movies.

''That's the fun part!'' Y/n said as she went to the box sunk her arm in the movies, pulling out a random CD box she'd caught and showing it to Chifuyu. ''How about this one?''

''Never heard of it.''

''Me neither. It's just 650 yen, though.''

''We should spend them on snacks. I have better movies at home.''

Y/n sighed and let the movie fall on top of the other trashy movies. ''Fine. But we'll do it another time.''

Chifuyu chuckled. ''So it's a date, then?''

''. . . Yeah, whatever.''

Chifuyu was frozen in place at her answer, not moving as she went deeper into the supermarket to look for more snacks. He'd meant the date sentence as a joke, but why did she agree? Was he dreaming?

''Chifuyu? Why're you just standing there, come help me pick gummy bears.''

He shook his head, waking up from his daydream, though her answer remained in his mind. Did that mean what he thought it does? Was he allowed to have hope now?

''Yeah, coming.'' He walked over to her, looking at the gummy bears. Suddenly remembering what had happened not even twenty minutes earlier, Chifuyu anxiously looked at Y/n. ''Hey, can I ask you something?''

''Hm? Sure,'' Y/n said as she grabbed two different packs of gummy bears and inspected them.

''Will you let me bring you to and pick you up from cram school?'' Chifuyu watched as her eyebrows furrowed.

''Huh? Why's that?'' Y/n asked, returning one of the gummy bears.

''Well . . . Hanma.'' He wasn't sure how else to explain it.

Y/n scoffed. ''I'm sure that was a one-time thing, Chifuyu, no need to worry.''

''That's exactly not it,'' Chifuyu fully turned to her to show her he was serious. ''He's crazy, okay? I don't want to make you panic, but you never know what he may want from you. He could want to . . . I'll spare you the details. Just, please, I want to make sure you're okay and he doesn't do anything.''

She stayed silent for a few moments before nodding in understand. ''Okay. If that'll make you sleep at night, fine. I wouldn't mind the company on the way, anyway. Wouldn't it be bothersome, though?''

Your safety would never be bothersome. ''No, don't worry about it. Now, those gummy bears you picked are pretty bad.''

''They're not!''
