Sky High Gym Battle!

After leaving Rubello Town, our heroes arrive at Fortree City for Ash's sixth Hoenn Gym Battle.

At the pokemon center, he decides to train his pokemon, especially Numel, Carvanha, and Gulpin. After a while, they evolved into Camerupt, Sharpedo, and Swalot, so Ash scans them.

Sharpedo can swim at speeds of up to 75 mph by jetting seawater out of its backside. This Pokémon's drawback is its inability to swim long distances.
This Sharpedo is level 59 and knows the moves Aqua Jet, Poison Fang, Slash, Ice Fang, Rage, Dive, Payback, Swagger, Crunch, Assurance, Hydro Pump, Skull Bash, Ice Beam, Rain Dance, Night Slash, Dark Pulse, Avalanche, Agility, Poison Jab, Assurance, Liquidation, Psychic Fangs, Swift, Hydro Pump, Water Pulse*Egg Move*, Double-Edge*Egg Move*, Ancient Power*Egg Move*, and Brine*Egg Move*]

Swalot has no teeth, so what it eats, it swallows whole, no matter what. Its cavernous mouth yawns widely. An automobile tire could easily fit inside this Pokémon's mouth.
This Swalot is level 61 and knows the moves Sludge Bomb, Yawn, Wring Out, Sludge, Acid Spray, Amnesia, Toxic, Sludge Wave, Stockpile, Spit Up, Swallow, Belch, Water Pulse, Bullet Seed, Shadow Ball, Protect, Venom Drench, Venoshock, Smog*Egg Move*, Acid Armor*Egg Move*, and Gunk Shot*Egg Move*]

Ash, quite pleased with the results of his training, gets a game plan ready for Winona, settling on one.

<Hey Ash? How come you waited to become a trainer when Professor Oak had the connections to get you there early?> Pikachu asks, Ash sighs a bit and says, "I just didn't feel...ready at that time."

<Why not just forget about your mom?> Eevee chimed in. "It wouldn't be right... I can't forget my mother or my roots." Ash answered kindly.

<Why not just tell anyone else that isn't pokemon about your past? They can help you.> Togetic proposed, but Ash shook his head.

"I'm not ready.. I'm just... not ready."

The pokemon were worried, but they respected Ash's answer. Trauma is a hard thing to overcome.

"But.. I'm glad I have all of you. It makes life a bit less scary." Ash says, smiling sweetly. He really was lucky.

Max had managed to catch a shiny Taillow, Volbeat, and a Natu while Molly caught Illumise, Castform, and Trapinch.

May's Mareep, Oddish, and two Nidoran evolve into Flaafy, Gloom, Nidorina, and Nidorino, and Brock's Voltorb and Wingull evolve into Pelipper and Electrode.

Molly goes to Ash, worried. "Ash? Are you okay?" Ash looks over, smiling kindly.

"Don't worry. I'm fine. Ready to go?" Ash reassures. Molly nods, and they head off.

The gang heads to the Fortree City gym, a flying type gym. Luckily, Ash has a plan.

"Welcome. I've heard many good things about you, Ash Ketchum." The gym leader, Winona says. "Ready?"

Ash nods, the two head to the battlefield while the others to the bleachers.
"Eight on eight with my last three pokemon as triple battle good?"

"Sounds good to me." Ash and Winona let's out their first pokemon, Winona's Noctowl against Ash's Absol.

Winona's Noctowl speeds down with Brave Bird, Absol dodges, and attacks with Quick Attack at the same time.

Absol manages to use Sucker Punch before Noctowl could attack, this time, able to nick Absol with Steel Wing.

Absol was able to shake it off and make a combo of Hone Claws and Night Slash to finish the round, knocking out Noctowl.

Up next is Winona's Togetic against Ash's Aggron. Aggron stood her ground when Togetic's Water Pulse shot at her. The inside of the armored pokemon started glowing a bright light.
Aggron smirks, using Metal Burst and knocking out Togetic with ease.

Up next was Pidgeot and Swampert. Swampert started with Rock Slide, but Pidgeot manages to dodge the falling boulders and attack the Mud Fish pokemon with Quick Attack.

Swampert used the close quarters as an opportunity to use a close range Ice Punch, hurdling the flying type across the field, freezing its wing, and swarms the bird pokemon in Muddy Water, finishing the round.

Tropius comes out on the field, facing Ash's Blaziken. Blaziken uses Sunny Day to power its fire moves, Tropius uses this opportunity to use Fly to gain the upper hand.

However, Blaziken dodges it and lands a powerful Blaze Kick to finish the round quickly.

Winona's Pelipper and Ash's Sceptile are up next, Sceptile dodging each Ice Beam, using the still active Sunny Day to use Solar Blade without having to wait long.

Pelipper uses Rain Dance to get rid of Sunny Day, and now Solar Blade will take longer to charge.

Ash decides Leaf Blade is the better option than Solar Blade or Solar Beam.
This turns out to be the better choice, knocking out the Pelipper.

Now, the final round, the triple battle, Winona has out Altaria, Skarmory, and a shiny Swellow while Ash has Pikachu, Eevee, and Togetic out.

It was a fast and easy victory for Ash.
It made sense considering Pikachu is level 100 and the other two are around level 71.

Togetic's Fairy Wind, Eevee's Trump Card, and Pikachu's Thunder was more than enough to overwhelm the bird like pokemon, especially since it was still raining and Thunder was super effective.

"Wow.. You really know how to soar. You have my respect, Ash. You earned this. The Feather Badge."

Winona hands Ash the Feather Badge with the TM for Fly and TR for Brave Bird, along with prize money.

Ash bows politely, and the gang heads off to the next city.
After a while, May managed to get her third ribbon in Lilycove and headed to the seaports to ride the ferry to Mossdeep City for Ash's next gym battle.
