You glanced down, catching a glimpse of two sentries, one with sword drawn, while the other looked a bit drunk. The boy lost his pigeon, you were about to say, but the words didn't make it out of your mouth. The wind picked up, and you barely had time to register the sound of wingbeats before your fingers were ripped from the wall.
You caught a glimpse of something huge scraping against the turrets. A dragon. Hitting the ground, you heard muffled screams from inside the city, deafened by the sound of the wind rushing around you.
"Stormterror is back!"
"Take cover!"
Slightly stunned, you groaned. The guard with his sword out had apparently stumbled into the lake, getting assistance from the two at the gate. You rolled over and picked yourself up, giving a quick look to the drunk sentry, who was cowering beside a bush. Assured that there was no one to stop you, you headed inside.
The dragon was flying loops, knocking over the occasional chimney. It paused and hovered over the east side of the city, giving an earsplitting roar. The once blue sky was now grey with debris, and multiple twisters formed at the heart of the city.
Most of the citizens ducked indoors, others just trying to avoid the miniature tornados. You, being the crazy person that you are, however, ran towards the whirlwind.
Obviously, that wasn't your best idea.
Reaching the plaza, you realized you had no plan whatsoever. You mentally cursed yourself, getting scooped up by a tornado with a yelp. You were flung up into the sky above the Archon statue, landing on small platforms of electro. You glared at the statue below. The Anemo Archon? They don't seem to be doing a very good job.
You heard a roar on your left. Summoning your sword, you drew on the power of your vision, infusing your sword with electro and creating a second sword in your hand.
"Come at me!"
You could see the silhouette of the dragon as it charged you with a screech. You ran to meet it, raising your swords. It swerved to the right, allowing you to graze its stomach. The dragon howled in pain, changing course to fly above the clouds.
Your feet crackled with electricity as you stepped back, clearly at a disadvantage. In the blink of an eye, the dragon plummeted down from the sky. You barely had time to dodge. Losing your footing, you fell a short distance before stabbing your second sword into the air, creating a floor. Dazed from the impact, you barely noticed as your sword disintegrated, channeling its energy into the platform you lay on.
Stormterror circled above. With another roar, it sent a blast of wind towards you. You managed to get up just as the illusion shattered.
Charging your weapon, it shot up into the sky.
"Tempest!"
The sky lit up with flashes of lightning. Stormterror ducked and weaved, getting closer. In an attempt to knock your sword away, lightning struck its wing. With an enraged sound, the dragon veered off, swatting you away with its tail. You were too shocked to scream. Multiple thoughts ran through your head as you fell, once again.
Well, this is not how I imagined my death. Escaping from their clutches to end up as a bloody pancake. At least my identity will never be compromised. This is fine. You closed your eyes, prepared for the worst.
The impact never came.
You found yourself floating gently to the ground, landing on your feet. You looked around you, wondering why you didn't just splat when you heard.... Applause?
You turned. A tall blue haired man strode towards you. "Well well, you've actually got the power to go up against the dragon." He smirked. "Are you a new ally?" His amused look quickly shifted to a serious one.
"Or a new storm?"
A/N: Sorry this took so long, I spent way too much time on the fight scene, and it still looks cringy. 😅 The format might look a bit off since I'm writing on iPad today, I'll fix it later.
