You stared at each other for a solid minute. You didn't move, and neither did he. What were your chances of escape?
You didn't have time to think about it when the two guards who caught you came running up. "There she is!" one shouted. You darted to the side, picking up your sword which now lay on the ground.
You lifted it, blocking a strike from the drunk guard, though he had an advantage with his weight. With your sword locked against your neck, you filled the weapon with the power of your vision, shocking the guard enough for him to stumble back. The other guard charged you, but the blue haired man intervened.
"That's enough Guy." Guy stopped mid charge, toppling over. "Yes sir." He grumbled, picking himself up.
The man turned to you. "My sincere apologies, Miss...?" He gave you a slight bow with his hand over his heart. You lowered your sword, but before you could reply, the second guard interrupted.
"There's no need to apologize hic! sir." You had to stop yourself from scoffing. Irresponsible. "She hic! she was climbing the wall... An- an intruder!" He pointed at you with a supposedly triumphant face, though to you, he looked plain stupid.
"Oh?" The man turned to him. He crossed his arms. "Well if we're going to get technical here-"
"You're the one who let me go in the first place."
The guard stared. "H-huh?" You smirked. "Oh, so you won't take the blame? It's not his fault he fell in the lake." You put a hand on your face and looked at the other sentry with mock sympathy. "He even needed two other guards to help him." You focused your gaze on the second guard. "But what about you....." Your eyes seemed to bore right through him. "Drinking? On duty?" You barked a laugh. "And the coward you are."
Covering your mouth, you feigned a look of surprise. "Whoops. Slip of the tongue there. I suppose I shouldn't tell everyone how you hid beside a bush instead of fighting off a dangerous enemy. You... Knights? Ha! So inefficient. Where's the discipline? Etiquette? Responsibility."
The guard was shrinking back. "You sure talk bold for someone about to go to prison." Guy cut in. Glaring at him, you could've kept going, pointing out every single flaw, every mistake he made, if not for the tug on your sleeve. Looking to the side, you noticed a little girl with a flower in her hand.
She tugged harder, indicating that she wanted you to bend down. You paused for a second before you complied, taking a knee. She carefully positioned the flower in your hair by your ear. Giving you a shy smile, she ran off to the edge of the plaza, where her mother was waiting. Lots of people were gathering around the edge.
"It's her!" You couldn't pin the location of the voice.
"She saved us!"
The crowd erupted in cheers and applause. For you.
You stood as the blue haired man approached you. "Why don't you stop by our headquarters? I'm sure there's someone who would love to meet you." His smile was friendly, but the look in his eyes—no, eye—told you that it wasn't an option.
The two guards walked towards you with some rope. Your eyes narrowed. You couldn't fight them openly anymore. And they knew that.
The man beside you stopped them. "We won't be needing that." The guards backed off, albeit reluctantly, and he turned to you. "I'm sure she won't run away."
Your gaze flickered to meet his, and you smiled. "Why would I do that?" You opened your arms in a look around gesture."I'm a hero."
