Dear Directors, why do you do this when choosing actors?

Story time: I was watching a movie made in my country about a fat girl trying to get married.

Context: In my country people's appearance matters a lot in terms of marriage. A handsome boy in this country would rarely marry a girl who is dark skinned, overweight or 'ugly'. The girl's academic merits are of less importance, but this is changing (thankfully). I'm not saying men in my country are bed, it's just sOCiETy makes fun of them if they settle for someone 'worse than them'.

ANYWAYS this movie tackled the topic quite well. The male lead was pretty average looking and 'ugly' by my country's standards.

The female lead, however, was played by an actress who is actually quite pretty in real life- she's actually slim. Fluffing was stuff inside her outfits to make her appear fat.

My question to directors is: Instead of doing this, why didn't they get an overweight person to act this role?

The same happened in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Instead of just choosing an 'uglier' actress, they asked a famous, and very pretty, actress to play the role.

I don't understand why movie producers keep doing this. If you want your main character to be 'ugly' (eg, overweight, not jacked up, aneroxic) why not use an 'ugly' person to play the role? The Big Bang Theory used very average looking actors, and people loved that show.

Personally, I wish the 'uglier' peeps would get considered for acting more. Not only gorgeous superstars.

A kid might give up his dreams of becoming an actor just because people tell him 'you're not handsome/ pretty enough for the role'.

Also NO ONE GIVES A DAMN about how hot the actors look if the story is good. Sure Leonardo Di Capprio is a total knockout but if the writing in Titanic was bad I doubt people would watch it as much.

ON THE OTHER HAND, many people have told me they watched The Witcher because 'Henry DADDY Cavill is there'.

alskjdflsj.

Anyways what are your thoughts on it?

How much do you guys know about actors in movies? I dunno any actors/actresses alskajfksf.

I mean I only knew about Henry Cavill because The Witcher is a medieval fantasy (#medievalfantasynerdalert)
