No no this won't be a super political debate.

It's just something I noticed reading Webtoon.

One of my friends on Wattpad (MFOshin ) recommended Winter Woods to me. She also recommended a Good Day to be a Dog. (Her recs are amazing actually so check out her wattpad reading lists). I am OBSESSED with both these Webtoons right now.

A Good Day to be a Dog is about a girl who turns into a dog when she kisses someone in human form. To revert back she has to kiss the same person in dog form. Anyways, one drunken night she kisses her colleague, Jin Seon. Therefore, she must be-friend Jin Seon, and make him kiss her in dog form to stop turning into a cute puppy every midnight.

But of course, there is a love triangle (the webtoon is great, and I don't hate love triangles). Another one of the MC's colleague likes Jin Seon.

On one episdoe, this 'love rival' character notices that the MC, Hana, asks Jin Seon to spend time outside school with her. Before this, the 'Love Rival' had asked Hana if she and Seon were dating, and admitted to liking Seon. Hana denied both these. Love Rival (sorry I forgot her name) asked Hana to 'stay out of her way,' but also said 'I don't expect you to help me'.

While I didn't like this character much because it seemed like her life revolved around Seon, she sounded pretty fair in her request.

People in the comments went 'BEGONE THOT' just because she got in the way of the main ship, Hana X Seon.

Another Webtoon, True Beauty, features a love triangle where the MC has two guys liking her. The first love interest, Suho, left for Japan. A few years later, the MC, Jugyeong, and Suho's friend got together (he asked her to date him, she agreed).

No one in this comment section said 'OMG beGone THot' or anything. Some people in fact cheered the 2nd love interest and Jugyeong.

Now here's my opinion:

In True Beauty, the 2nd love interest was Suho's friend. He knew about Suho's feelings for Jugyeong, and still asked her out because Suho had been gone for a few years.

In 'A Good Day to be a Dog,' the 2nd love interest did not like the MC even before she started to suspect Hana and Seon were dating. They weren't friends in any way. However, when she suspected it, she confronted Hana and said, 'If you are dating, just tell me. I'm not one to spread rumors and I don't wanna steal someone else's man' (something like that).

In my eyes, the 'A Good Day to be a Dog' character was much more fair than the True Beauty character.

Yet the comments only accused HER of being 'thOT' while Seojun (True Beauty, Suho's friend) got almost no backlash like that (I don't remember anyone saying Seojun was wrong to do this. People just praised Suho for being so accepting of it).

I know most Webtoon readers are usually young and usually girls (look if you're a man who likes Webtoons that's PERFECTLY fine! It's just the demographic is like that). I don't know why people shamed Hana's 'love rival' but not Suho's in the same way.

ANYWAYS, I would love to hear YOUR thoughts about it! If you feel like I'm wrong, feel free to call out my BS lol.
