"Ganito ba talaga kapag matalino, natutulala na lang bigla?" Nico shook his head.

"Shut up," I said, walking towards the canteen. Exams will start soon, and I admit, I'm a little bit anxious.

I was quietly walking when Nico pushed me. Muntik na akong sumubsob sa semento. Sinamaan ko siya ng tingin at inayos ang uniform ko na nagusot na. This is the last thing I want right; to have my uniform gets folded.

"What are you on?" I annoyingly ask. One of my goals in life is to punch him in the face. His smiley face always annoys me. Paano niya nagagawang ngumiti kahit na parang daig pa ng impyerno ang bahay namin?

"May nakatingin kasi sayo!" he pointed at someone with his lips. "Gusto ka ata. Kanina ko pa napapansin, e.

I turned my back to look at the one he was looking at behind me. The girl was wearing a nursing uniform. She looks pretty with her untied hair that the wind is blowing away.

Our eyes met. Ngumiti siya ng kaunti, pero hindi ako ngumiti. Instead, I walked in her direction, but I didn't stop when I reached her place. With a stoic expression, I marched straight to our canteen.

Ibinalik ko sa tingin ko sa kanya nang makalayo na ako. She was pouting, and I couldn't contain my smirk. I never thought soft girls like her could be this cute. Her smile radiates sunshine too. I could watch it the whole day and never get bored.

With a small grin, I began walking again. The girl I saw near the canteen didn't leave my mind for a solid one week. I adore her smile a lot, maybe because I haven't seen a genuine smile like that. Somehow, it gives me so much comfort.

I didn't expect to see her again, but one day, I saw her talking to Nico inside Xylo. Sana naman ay walang sabihing kagaguhan si Nico sa kanya. Masyadong madaldal ang kapatid kong 'yun. Hindi naman alam kung saan niya nakuha ang kadaldalan niya dahil wala namang mahilig magsalita sa pamilya namin.

"Who was that?" Vio asked Nico when he sat in our seat.

"Crush ni Satanas," sagot ni Nico.

"Hindi ako naniniwala!" si Serge.

"Pusta ko pa sasakyan ko, crush ni Satanas 'yan," ngumisi pa si Nico.

"I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but I don't like her," I lied. I mean... who wouldn't like her? She's a ball of sunshine even though I don't really know her. A picture of her smiling popped into my mind. Ngumiti ako ng palihim.

I heard Nico cursing, so I quickly look at him. Nakaawang bibig niya habang ang dalawa ay halatang gulat. My forehead automatically creased.

Someone coughed behind me, making me turn my head. My brows furrowed upon seeing the girl near the canteen. She was smiling at me, and for a moment, I felt my heart race. I've experienced tons of recitations and case discussions, but my heart didn't thump this fast.

"Hi! I'm Vera," she cheerfully said.

Damn... Even her name screams so much comfort.

She handed me her head, and my eyes automatically dropped at her long fingers. Ibinalik ko ang tingin ko sa kanya at hindi pa rin nawawala ang bakas ng saya sa mukha niya.

"I don't care," I unintentionally said. I didn't mean to let that slip off my mouth. Gusto kong humingi ng tawad pero hindi ko mabuksan ang bibig ko.

Her lips parted in shock. Ang kamay niya ay nasa ere pa rin. I felt guilty, but when I saw her roll her eyes, I wanted to clap my hands.
