"Saphira."

The name caused Mia to freeze. She couldn't help but take a step back, subconsciously not wanting to be involved in the scene.

"Sorry that I knocked to you." Alastair's attention suddenly shifted to her. He helped her to gain her footing again, holding her arm.

Mia pulled her arm back from his clutch, hurriedly putting some distance between them. However, she was still in a slight daze.

"Who is this, Mr. Wellington?" The girl glanced at Mia curiously. She seemed to have noticed that Mia had come out of Alastair's car. As though she suddenly recalled something, the girl spoke to Mia. "Ah, you are Mr. Kingston's secretary, right?"

Mia gradually recovered herself. When she heard the girl's question, she just nodded casually. Glancing at Alastair, she noticed that he was strangely silent. Sneering inside, Mia put on an undisturbed look.

"Excuse me. I need to go to the bathroom." Mia made an excuse. Without waiting for them to answer, she unhurriedly walked away under their penetrating stare.

Of course, Mia didn't really go to the bathroom. She supported herself by leaning against a wall after she had made sure that she was far enough from them. Massaging her temples, Mia sucked in some deep breaths and gradually took the reins of her emotions back.

Mia was in this position for a minute. She straightened herself again, planning to head somewhere farther back from those two.

She had just taken two steps forward when someone stood so arrogantly in front of her, blocking her way. With a crease on her eyebrow, she gazed at Alastair unyieldingly. She rolled her eyes sarcastically.

"Blocking a lady that's about to go to a bathroom? How impolite. People would definitely suspect what kind of intention does that person harbors." Mia flicked her wrist.

She walked to his side, intending to walk past him. Alastair, however, moved quickly to block her way again. Irritated, she crossed her arms on her chest, a chilling glare emanated from her eyes.

"I just wanted to ask a question." He casually said, his lips curled up slightly.

"What kind of question can't wait for a lady until she finished her urgent matter?" Mia didn't back down.

"What kind of urgent matter?" Alastair raised one of his eyebrows. "Standing without moving while leaning against the wall doesn't seem like an urgent matter."

"Were your eyes unable to see that I was about to walk to the bathroom earlier, but you blocked me twice?" She indifferently retorted back. A seed of headache sowed in her head. There was this particular sound in her head, telling her to just grab a flower pot nearby, and smash him out of the cold with it. She disliked trouble so much.

Alastair seemed to be unbothered by her hostile stare. He ignored her words as he gazed at her solemnly. "Do you remember her?"

Mia wordlessly just stood there, letting the clock noise fill the silence.

Alastair still didn't move, seemingly so patient to wait for her next words.

Mia coldly spat out. "I remember!"

Seeing the indescribable change of expression on Alastair's face as soon as she uttered those words, Mia waited no more as she walked past him, putting a large distance between them.

Before she was completely out of his range of hearing, Mia suddenly muttered in a rather sarcastic voice as she shook her head in pity. "The action seems so suspicious that one can't help but question it. Who knows what kind of scheme one can harbor to his employer. Getting close to a particular woman."

Without looking back, Mia unhurriedly walked away until she disappeared from his sight. Clutching her throbbing head, Mia couldn't help but lament to herself.

She should learn to sharpen her tongue more. She has been too quiet and detached these days, she thought. She was rather fatigued, but she was also a bit proud of herself that she could finally put her feelings into words. Although she was as calm as still water and as unmoving as an ancient well, Mia sometimes still retained this urge to let people know of her thoughts. Albeit stiffly, she was a little bit delighted that she can argue with people now.

Mia was intending to get further away from Alastair this time, not wanting to be entangled in his complex intention. She looked around, making sure that the man didn't follow her and wouldn't suddenly pop up like a ghost.

She kept on walking to this spacious place that had a lot of sections. Unwittingly, Mia arrived in a particular part of the store. The dresses were beautiful. Mostly designed with long-sleeves and lower parts that almost reach one's heel.

As she didn't particularly fond of exposing her skin too much, she liked this kind of clothing more.

She walked, clandestinely marveling at gorgeous dresses. Some even had a complicated design that Mia couldn't help but take a few looks at. However, as soon as she checked the price, her heart would turn stifled all of a sudden.

Mia grabbed a frilly long black dress, finding it simple and elegant at the same time. However, as she examined the dress more, she had the sudden urge not to buy another dress with such dark color again. She wanted to be rid of the sense of gloominess, as the combination of the dark-colored dress, and her stoic face was exactly that.

Yet, when she was about to stroll in a lighter-colored dress, two women were gazing at her with unkind eyes. Mia was unbothered, but the words still reached her ears.

"What's this girl doing here? Does she enter the wrong place?" The woman wearing yellow dresses whispered to her companion.

The companion's opinion seemingly aligned with her as she nodded, glancing at Mia with the roll of her eyes. "She has been touching the dresses in another section just now, checking them without even picking one."

The meaning was rather clear as the woman held up her bag that was filled with dresses. She was wearing an orange ruffle dress that went above her knee.

"Can she pay?" They gossiped again at some point, seemingly bored.

Mia ignored them. But at some point, she noticed another figure drew near. Unwilling to engage the woman named Saphira earlier from any form of human interaction, strolled away.

However, Mia was almost stumbled when her body suddenly hit something. She was nearly cursing in resentment when a sweet voice entered her ear.

"Do you know why is it so smelly? It is as if a dog had taken a dump so haphazardly here."

The bitingly cold words entered the two women's ears as well, who were instantly so self-conscious of the color they were wearing right now; yellow and orange. As if to make a demonstration, she suddenly fanned her nose as it scrunched up cutely.
