"You two are still as harmonious as ever."

The surprisingly pleasant comment nearly made Leon stumbled over a flower pot. He looked over, only to find that his mother was also looking at him.

"This pot is blocking people's road. I will put it outside." Leon muttered quietly. His mother's eyes that keep following his actions made him jittery for some reason. Under the watchful eyes of his mother, Leon lifted the pot and walked outside.

As he strolled through the hallway, the more he thought about it, the more Leon felt that something wasn't quite right. It was something that he couldn't put his finger on.

At this moment, Mia was standing beside Leon's mother as she chopped the carrot in the kitchen. She was also taken aback when she heard the remark earlier. But it wasn't supposed to be her problem right?

She admitted that seeing Leon become so flustered under his mother's scrutiny was a rare sight that was hard to come by. Thinking about this, she couldn't help but gloat at him. That was so satisfying!

Serves him right, that gremlin.

"Mrs--" Mia hurriedly stopped herself.

Camellia Kingston, Leon's mother jerked her brows as her scrutinizing eyes landed on Mia. Then, she sighed. "It's been five years. Even you have forgotten what to call me."

"Sorry, M-mom... that was a slip of tongue." Mia hurriedly explained. Inwardly, she was feeling rather guilty.

Little by little, Camellia's gaze reverted back to her previous elegant and calm look. "It's not your fault. It's that son of mine. Keeping you away from his mother like this. How more unfilial that brat can be."

Mia nodded vigorously. She had this inexplicable feeling of glee every time Leon was scolded by someone else. Even more when he couldn't retort back. His Mom was the big boss here, would he dare to say anything back?

A moment later, she realized what she was doing and abruptly stopped, motionless as she stole a glance at Camellia. Thankfully, the madam had gone back with her unfinished business of creating the seasonings for tonight's dinner.

As a filial daughter-in-law, Mia naturally would help her. Besides, she also liked this lady's temper. She was such a kind and warm person; that was how she treated her despite the short time they had together.

"By the way, is your body still feeling unwell those days?"

Mia was bewildered at first upon hearing such a question. However, as soon as she remembered Leon's previous reasonings to delay his mother, she understood.

"I am completely fine now. I hope that you are also fine... Mom." The last word came out rather strangely from her lips.

"I am also fine." She smiled lightly.

After she said that, Leon had come back to the kitchen. He was out of his wits as to what he should do in this kind of situation.

"Mom... I will go back to finish my work." An imaginary lamp lit up above his head. This idea sounded pretty good to escape this awkward situation. He couldn't cook at all, and just standing there as a decoration didn't feel pleasant at all.

However, as soon as his mother's eyes were on him, it seemed as if the hell had frozen over. Camellia had a smile over her lips, which made her look kind and somewhat elegant. At that moment, Leon's heart trembled slightly.

"Tsk, tsk..." Camellia shook her head, she titled it slightly as she examined her son.

"What's wrong, Mom?" Leon coughed slightly, and with the face that wouldn't give away any the ongoing on his mind, he mustered the courage to ask her.

"Treat your wife well." She emphasize every word as she stared seriously at Leon.

Albeit he was plunged in the state of stupefaction, Leon still replied earnestly. "Of course, she's my wife. I will treat her well. Always."

There was no sly foxy smile that was faintly always present on his face at the moment. In the corner of the room, Mia couldn't hear the topic of their conversation clearly, but she was able to grasp the gist of it.

She peered over to Leon's face and was stunned to see his serious expression. As she mulled inwardly, she couldn't help but praise his acting skills. The ability to lie through his teeth, even in front of his mother was top-notch.

"Now, then. Help her cut those vegetables." Camellia raised her brows as she said those words. A sense of satisfaction flickered faintly on her face. "Doesn't she have a fragile body? How can you let her do the job alone?"

Leon was surprised, but he quickly nodded with subconscious eagerness. He walked to Mia. With every step he took that resonated through the spacious kitchen, even Mia was very conscious of it.

As Leon arrived at Mia, she turned around and her eyes gradually widened. She was so surprised that she accidentally made a small cut on her finger. "Ow..."

"What happens? Are you hurt?" In a flash, Leon already grabbed her hand gently. He inspected the wound that was already starting to ooze blood with the utmost attention.

"Are you hurt, dear?" Camellia threw her a concerned look.

Without any warning, Leon suddenly put her finger into his mouth, startling Mia that her mind blanked immediately. As she recovered, she instantly shook her head vehemently. "It's alright. It's just a small cut. There's no need to go through so much trouble."

She tried to pull her finger away. The weird sensation seemed to spread through her entire body that she had goosebumps.

"Be quiet." Leon's tone was somewhat gentle as he coaxed softly. He inspected the wound and took a tissue from the counter. After wetting it with water, he began to wash her wound. "Does it hurt?"

Mia shook her head like a rattle drum. Fearing that it was not enough, she hastily said. "No, it doesn't hurt at all."

She was still so shocked at what this gremlin did just now. Inwardly, she hoped that her expression right now wouldn't give away anything.

"Dear, you should take a rest. Just let me do it." Camellia stared at the flushed Mia, who was seemingly still in a daze.

"I will bring her to rest, Mom." Leon offered.

"But... it's just a small cut. I am really alright." Mia explained to them. She pulled her hand from Leon's clutch and to make a demonstration, she waved her fingers.

"Hush, don't be stubborn." Leon suddenly scold her, making her bewildered and flustered for some reason. "Sally will help Mom. Don't worry."

Leon grabbed Mia and gently dragged her away from the kitchen. He grabbed the medical box in the hallway and brought her to the living room. He began to take care of her wound as they sat on the sofa.

Mia's released the long breath that she didn't realize she was holding. As she peered over Leon's expression, she was stunned that he was wearing such an incredibly solemn guise.

Helplessly, she could only suppress the strange ripples on her heart that were about to surface.
