As Rafael stepped into the dining hall, he scanned the room for Fayenyra but quickly realized she was absent, a fact that left him visibly disappointed. He soon spotted Josie and made his way over, settling into a seat beside her.

"Typically, the wolves eat outdoors," Josie quipped as he sat down.

"I'd rather be with you. I couldn't find Fayenyra at the assembly. Still getting my bearings in this place," Rafael confessed.

The young Saltzman signed. " Of course, he's interested in her. Everyone around here is.

She began to feel envious of Fayenyra , how easy it was for the young Mikaelson girl to attract boys and girls her way.

"Why aren't you playing detective with Landon?" Rafael inquired, cutting her from her thoughts.

"I'm busy working on offensive spells for class. They only teach defensive magic here, but I believe the curriculum needs updating," Josie responded.

Rafael chuckled lightly.

"What?" Josie queried.

"Nothing, just still wrapping my head around this being a standard conversation here," Rafael admitted.

"So, you're glad to be back?" Josie asked.

"I'll be glad when I'm sure that Landon can stay," Rafael declared.

"And if he can't?" Josie was about to say, until Jed interrupted.

"Beat it, witch. Rafael and I need to chat," Jed demanded, standing over Josie and looking at Rafael.

"Once Josie and I are done," Rafael countered.

"Actually, newbie, I'm your alpha. You're done when I say you're done," Jed retorted.

"Well, look at the time. As entertaining as this display of toxic masculinity is, I need to get to class," Josie announced, rising to avoid getting caught in the middle.

"I'll accompany you," Rafael offered, collecting Josie's books.

"Sure, thanks," Josie replied with a slight blush. Together, they left a disgruntled Jed behind.

"This is the senior hallway, where I spent a lot of my formative years stuffed in every locker, except this one," Landon was explaining to the two sisters.

"That locker doesn't open. On your left, you'll see the bathroom. That's where I had my first encounter with a toilet," Landon jokes.

Fayenyra and Hope stopped for a moment and turned to the Kirby boy. "Just because we're hostile doesn't mean we're friends again," Hope retorted.
