The mirror holds a stranger
Someone I'm told is me
But how can that be true
When my mind's eye tells a different tale?
The mirror holds a stranger
Someone who cannot be me
Edges in all the wrong places
Parts all the wrong shapes
The mirror holds a stranger
Someone I don't want to be
So I will watch my steps with bated breath
Until I can break free
The mirror holds a stranger
Someone I refuse to be
I hate the figure in the glass
So I'll turn all the mirrors around
The mirror holds a stranger
Someone I've realised is me
I turned the mirrors all around
But could not escape its gaze
Now the mirror is shattered
Shards scattered across the floor
Never again will the stranger be me
My mirror image is no more
