Part 17 // Living With Her

Chase's POV

I didn't sleep at all last night. It felt weird not being in my house, or my bed, and I didn't have a midnight smoke.

I'm very great full that Lily invited me to stay, and I know it's only a week but i'm glad I get to be with a loving family. Family dinner, games nights, help with homework the whole nine yards.

I still fell out of place. I heard my door creek open a bit. I looked at the clock on the wall that read seven am. Lily came in, in a long sleeve big t-shirt probably her dads, and a pair of Lulu Lemon shorts.

"Hi." she whispered

"Hey."

"Can I" she pointed to the bed, and I nodded. She walked over quickly, and got in next to me "I want to go back to bed."

"Then go back to bed." I put my arms around her

"We have school. I missed yesterday."

"You missed two classes." I chuckled "We can stay here another five minutes if it's that important to you." she nodded her head. I ran my fingers through her hair as she slept.

When I walked downstairs, and into her kitchen everyone was acting hectic. Her mom was on a call attempting to make coffee, her dad was trying to read something while getting food from the fridge, and Lily was moving around at random waiting for her bagel to toast. I didn't know what to do so I just walked up behind her, and cleared my throat.

"Hi!" she said excitedly

"Everyone's...active"

"They're morning people and I chugged two cups of coffee. Do you want something to eat?"

"I'm okay thanks." in my house breakfast isn't a thing.

"Okay well tell her it's fine! Bye Kai." her mom hung up the phone and sighed "Qù nǐ de"

Lily gasped "Language mother!" she said sarcastically

"What did she say?"

"She told her business partner fuck you."

"He deserves it. Women in stem are just as powerful as men, and he needs to realize it."

"Agreed!" Lily said as she raised her arm to high five her mom

"He should know she leads this household now she gets to lead their office." her dad said, and Naomi kissed him

"You say that cause you're scared of me."

"Yes I do." I chuckled. I want to be like that in my forties. Without the kids. "Chase do you want coffee?"

"Sure." Caleb poured me a cup "Thank you again for this. I swear i'll find a way to repay you."

"Don't worry about it." Lily whispered

"Actually" Naomi said "Lily never got her license, and if I hear her complain about walking to school one more time i'll scream, so can you drive her?"

"I don't complain that much!"

"Yes you do." her parents said simultaneously

"I'll driver her whenever you need." her mom smiled and squeeze my shoulder

"Thank you! Okay i'm going to work. Have a good day at school." Naomi kissed Lily's cheek then walked out

"I guess that's my cue to go to work. If you want to make lunch we have a limited choice but lunch money is on the counter."
