Chapter Four

"My God! Siya ba 'yun?" I heard someone said from behind me.

Someone gasped. "Yeah, siya nga."

Then I heard someone snorted.

"Mukhang 'di makabasag pinggan. 'Yun pala..." a female voice trailed off.

I looked back at them.

What the hell is going on? Kanina pa ako nakaka-experience nito. What the hell's wrong with these people?

I swear, kanina pa sila. Ayoko lang sila pansinin kasi baka sabihin nilang 'feelingera' ako. Ayoko ring mag-assume na ako yung pinag-uusapan ng mga tao pero hindi ko maiwasang hindi maghinala.

Bakit? Kasi halos lahat ng mga taong nagbubulung-bulungan kapag nakakasalubong ko ay mga Applied Physics students!

Applied Physics student si Nico. Napa-paranoid na ako.

Ibinalik ko ang atensyon ko sa pagbabasa ng notes ko. Nandito kasi ako ngayon sa Lover's Lane kung saan kami madalas tumambay ni Nico.

"Hindi talaga ako makapaniwala sa mga narinig ko."

Na-distract na naman ako at narinig ko na naman silang nag-uusap.

I heard someone giggled. "Bakit kaya sila nagbreak?" I tensed up. Break?

"Girl, ano ka ba? Baka nagsawa na sa kanya si Nico!" I heard someone said.

Shit. Ako nga ang pinag-uusapan nila.

Nagtawanan ulit sila. "Si Nico ba nakauna sa kanya?" Pinigil ko ang paghinga ko. Ano pa bang dapat kong malaman na mga maling balita na kumakalat?

"Sabi niya! Kaya nga niya kinukwento sexcapades nila kasi siya daw ang nakakuha ng virginity niya." paliwanag nung nagmamagaling nilang kaibigan.

Hindi ko na napigilan ang mga luha ko at kusa na silang bumagsak. Kahit anong punas ko rin sa kanila ay hindi sila tumitigil.

Of all people, si Nico pa? He knows what I've been going through tapos nagkakalat siya ng mga ganitong klaseng rumors?

I thought he said he doesn't want me to get hurt? Ano itong ginagawa niya?

God! I'm so stupid! Hindi pa ba ako matututo?

First si Daddy, then si... siya. And now si Nico? What the hell?

Ganito na lang ba ako kamalas? Mapa-magulang, best friend o boyfriend, sasaktan ako? Bakit hindi na lang yung mga normal na tao ang mga lalaki nasa buhay ko?

This is so unfair. I love him and he broke up with me. HE broke up with ME! Not the other way around! So why the hell is he doing this? May nagawa ba akong masama sa kanya? As far as I know, wala naman!

"Daph! Daph!" Napalingon ako sa tumatawag sa akin. Si Annabelle, isa sa mga kaklase ko. Tumatakbo siya papalapit sa akin. Napansin kong wala na yung mga nagkukwentuhan about sa akin.

Hinihingal siya nang makarating siya sa pwesto ko. Mga ilang minuto pa bago niya nabawi ang normal breathing niya.

"Shit! Alam mo na?" she asked as she handed me her handkerchief.

I nodded as I wiped my tears with it. "Why is he doing this?" was the only thing I managed to ask Annabelle.

She sat down beside me and I can see that she's holding back something.

"Annabelle, please tell me everything you know!" I said, my voice breaking.

"That douchebag is spreading malicious rumors about you," said Annabelle, her nose flaring.

Kahit alam ko na it still rendered me speechless. "Siya raw ang nakauna sa'yo," she added.

"What?! No!" I denied furiously.

Annabelle sighed. "I know. Kaya nga I'm clearing everything up sa klase kanina. Nakaabot na rin sa kanila." She shook her head. "I told them that I know for a fact that you're still a virgin."

I kept my mouth shut. What Nico did was wrong! That lying asshole! Pinaniwala ko lang naman na siya ang nakakuha ng first kiss ko tapos ngayon pati virginity ko? This is insane!

I jumped on my seat when Annabelle held my hands. "Daphne, don't let him get away with this!" she fumed.

I nodded.

"I won't." I said before standing up from my seat. "He'll regret doing this to me," I added as I marched to where his usual tambayan.

He was alone in the school corridor when I saw him. I briskly walked towards him and he stopped whatever he was doing when he saw me.

"Can we talk?" was the first thing I said to him after our break up.

He didn't answer. Ano ngayon nangyari sa kanya?

"Totoo ba?" I started. "Totoo ba na ikaw ang nagpapakalat ng mga tsismis tungkol sakin?" I managed to ask I as I held back my tears.

This guy standing in front of me is a different person from the Nico I knew and fell in love with.

He didn't deny it but he kept his mouth shut. "Why, Nico? What did I do to you to deserve this? You broke up with me not the other way around!" I said as I punched his chest furiously.

He didn't stop me. He just looked away and let me punch him some more.

"You know what I'm going through right now! Bakit dinadagdagan mo pa?" The dam broke when Mommy and Daddy's face flashed in my head.

He looked down. "Daphne, I didn't want this to happen!" he said for the first time. "They just misunderstood what I said."

I scoffed. "But you didn't clear it up! Kumakalat na siya sa college niyo at sa college namin!"

He sighed. "I was just telling my friends na ako ang first kiss mo–" he stopped when he saw I was livid.

"It was only supposed to be between the two of us! Bakit mo kailangan ipagkalat 'yun?" I fumed. "Had I only known na kiss and tell ka–" I was interrupted when someone wrapped his arm around my shoulder.

"Really, Daph? You made him believe he was your first kiss?" I froze when I recognize the voice. It was deeper now pero alam ko pa rin na sa kanyang boses 'yun.

I looked up at him and stared at the guy who made the deepest damage on my heart.

"Who the hell are you?" asked Nico. His eyes darting back and fort on the arm around my shoulder and with it's owner, Lourd.

"Lourd Bautista." He offered his free hand. "Daphne's best friend and her first real kiss."

Holy shit.

Nico was stunned. "What?!" he managed to ask.

"It's true, man. I owned her before and I still own her," Lourd said cockily.

When what he said penetrated at him, I started to move away from him. I struggled to get away from his arms, he just squeezed my shoulder hard.

Nico looked at me, his eyes hurt and angry. "Totoo ba ang sinasabi niya, Daph?"

I was about to answer when I felt Lourd's fingers rubbing circles on my shoulder. Just like before kapag may pinagkakaisahan kami. It means sakyan ko siya.

I didn't deny or confirmed anything.

Nico just stared at me in disbelief. Lourd took the chance to make further damage with my relationship with Nico. "Just an advice, Dude," he started. "Before you start spreading rumors about your ex, make it sure to fact-check," Lourd smirked at him before he pulling me away from Nico.

Akala ko tapos na but I heard Nico said and I'm sure Lourd heard it too. "Siya ba yung lalaking nanakit sa'yo before, Daphne?"

For a moment, Lourd froze. He sighed as he removed his arm around me, he then turned to Nico.

"Yes, that's me. The guy who broke Daphne."
