Monse had just came back from Writing Camp. She was so excited to tell me everything not to mention miss mamas was feeling herself because she got her braces off.

We had been walking down the street headed to Ruby's so we talked all the way there.

"It was amazing! I was really excited to meet all the guest speakers. That camp was worth every penny."

I smiled at her as she talked. Monse was so passionate about being a writer, it was honestly inspiring.

"Are you gonna go again next summer?" I asked as we turned the corner.

"Probably, aye one day I'll be the next best writer. Probably as good as Issa Rae" She walked with her chin up, proudly strutting until we heard a voice

"ANGELICA!!!"

We glanced at each other and said
"Mario."  simultaneously.

"We finna regret walking over there." I laughed

"You're probably right.. c'mon".
We manage to catch the last bit of his rant as we make it over to him

"Im gonna be hooking up with other girls! White girls!"

Silence.

I tried my hardest to hold my laughter as we watched him go on

"I'm really talking out of my ass... it's you! IT'S ALWAYS BEEN YOU!"

More silence. This shit was painful.

"Maybe.. she's not home" Monse chimes in. I nodded beside, my hand still covering the grin that threatened to reveal itself.

"Oh! Hey you two!" Mario smiled weakly at us.

Poor dude. We waved back at him and crossed the road to meet him.

"How was camp Monse?" I caught him give her a look up and down.

He eventually sees me staring at him with a raised brow

"Semi- life changing, but fun!"

"I can tell" he gave her another glare.

"You can? How?" She looked confused by his response

This time i kicked his leg. then pretend to continue swinging it to play it off as being bored.

"OW! Y/- you know what.. i gotta get on the road! yeah you know, traffic?" he spoke awkwardly.

I smiled "Of course. Good luck at Cal Mario!"

He rolled his eyes at me and smiled as well. "Hey..." he trailed off

We replied with a subtle "hm?"

"Keep an eye on Ruby for me, don't know what he'll do with out me"

We hugged Mario as we parted ways and agreed to keep our promise.

"He's our brother too. We got him."

"WHATS GOOD BITCHESS" You jumped into Ruby's room, Monse right behind you.
"Im Back!!" She cheered

"Hey, can on of you move that table?" Ruby pointed.
