I don't know how long it was before night fell, and It was time for the concert to begin, but here we are. I was standing on the platform that would lift me onto the stage, trying to psyche myself up. I could hear the crowd roaring and cheering. It was a sold-out show, so I knew that there were thousands of people above me ready for one of the best shows of their lives.I almost had all of the nerves out of my system when I heard footsteps coming up behind me. Thinking that it was just one of the crew members, I didn't turn around to address the person until I heard a familiar voice call out my name.
"Oliver!" I turned to see Alyssa standing behind me a few feet away from the platform.
I smiled and answered her, "Hey! What are you doing back here? I figured you would be with Dex and Adam."
"I was, but I wanted to wish you luck before you went on! I hope that's okay?"
Cute.
"Yeah! It's fine! And thanks! I really appreciate it!"
"Of course! Though, I'm sure you don't need it. My friend is always talking about insane your shows are."
I let out a laugh, "Well, I'm glad she enjoys them. And, honestly, I take all the luck I can get. So, like I said, I really appreciate it."
Alyssa smiled and held her hands together in front of her. It really was nice of her to come back here and wish me luck. I've never had anyone do that for me before, not even my parents. It's making me feel a million times less nervous. I wish I could feel this all the time before a show.
As I stood there smiling at her, realization dawned across her face, and she began to dig into her pockets, "I almost forgot! I brought you something that I thought would help with the nerves!"
I watched as she pulled out a small lily flower bracelet charm and handed it to me. I looked down at the silver trinket and brushed my thumb over it.
"It's my lucky charm. I've had it since I was little, and it has brought me a lot of luck throughout the years, so I thought maybe it could do the same for you."
I closed my palm around it and slipped it into my jacket pocket, "Thanks, Aly! I promise I won't lose it!"
I watched as her eyes widened and a shy look formed across her features, "Aly?" she asked, red appearing in her cheeks.
Once I realized what I said, a blush then began to show on my face. "Y-Yeah. D-Do you mind if I call you that?"
"No, I don't mind at all. Everyone usually calls me Lyssa. I've... never heard Aly before," she said in the softest voice I've ever heard.
Before I could say anything else, a loud buzz alerted me that it was time to start the show. I gave Alyssa a gentle look. "Looks like it's time for me to go on. Thanks again for coming back to talk and for the charm. I promise I'll meet up with you and the others after the show, okay?"
"Okay. And you're welcome."
I gave her one last smile and motioned for my bodyguard to come over. "Matt, can you make sure she gets back to Adam and Dex, please?"
He nodded and looked at Alyssa, "Follow me, miss."
She began to walk off behind him, but not before she gave me a little wave and a smile. I returned the gestures and turned back around, ready for the lift to start moving.
I began to move up, the hole above me started to open, and I found myself standing in front of thousands of people. Their cheers became louder than before as soon as they saw me. Finally, the music began and cheers turned into singing.
I've always loved the feeling of the electricity in the air when I perform. It definitely helps to keep me hyped up during the show. The longer I'm on stage, the more energetic I become, which in turn keeps the crowd pumped up. The people came for a show, so I was determined to give them the best.
The loud voices in the crowd matched mine, and now it was more like all of us were performing rather than me alone. It made me smile to see all of these people enjoying the music I make. Knowing that I could have such a positive impact on people and bring them together made all the work, loneliness, and suffering worth every second.
Though I knew it was pointless, I still kept trying to search the crowd for my friends. I wanted to see if they were having fun and basking in the moment. It's been forever since Adam had been to one of my concerts, and part of me has to wonder whether or not he remembers how wild they can get. But to be completely honest, I kinda want to see how Alyssa is reacting. I know she hasn't been to one of my shows before, but her friend has told her so much. I just can't help but hope that it's living up to her friend's high praise.
Finally, I began to belt out the final song of the evening. The voices were louder than before and the energy was at its highest. As I hit the last note, the cheers began. The roaring and yelling were insane, I really couldn't be any more grateful for the life I live and what I do.
I exited the stage and began to make my way to the back for one more fan meet-and-greet before I head to the green room and find my friends. I was excited to meet more of my fans, but I was most excited to just relax, and hang out with the others for the rest of the night. That was one privilege I actually get to have. I always get to chill for the rest of the after a show, but when morning rolls around, I have to be ready to get a move-on.
So after this, for the rest of the night, I'm gonna stick with my friends and have some fun!
