(Chapter 21)
Mother...

~*~
Author POV

Location: Batia

Jimin ended up spending the entire of the banquet making more food to feed the guests. Taehyung and Jungkook by his side, eager to learn from him.

"Prince Taehyung!" A man dressed in the white of Aureathen was at the entrance to the kitchens.

Taehyung looked up.

"Ally Gren" Taehyung smiled, adding the honoured title to the servants name. Jimin noted that this man Gren was an apparent ally of Taehyung's.

Another servant soon came rushing into the kitchen, he was in the colours of Rikelux, he looked relieved to see Jungkook. The shy prince didn't announce his name like Taehyung had done with his servant. But nodded his head when the servant addressed him.

"Your parents are angry Prince Taehyung. They say you must get to the main hall immediately" Gren spoke, he seemed anxious, his words tumbling out in a rapid rush.

"Why? I am learning the Batian culture like they said" Taehyung gestured around the kitchen at the workers who had stopped to watch. They hadn't realised they had been in the presence of two princes.

"I don't think this is what they meant your Highness" Gren sounded nervous, clearly not liking to contradict his prince.

But then another person was at the kitchen door, the woman was intimidating in her aura. She wore the colours of Aureathen, a crown of silver woven into pale hair. Her face was aged but sharp, high cheek bones and intimidating eyes.

"Taehyung" her voice was a scary as she looked.

"Mother" Taehyung winced, he clearly knew the tone of her voice meant that he was in trouble.

"This is where you have been hiding" her voice was thick with a heavy Aureathen accent, much like Taehyung's. And Jimin found her alittle hard to understand, just like he couldn't understand every word Taehyung said, whether it be that it was grammatically incorrect or he was just pronouncing them wrong.

"I'm sorry but I wanted to be with my friend" he gestured at Jimin.

Jimin suddenly had the furious woman's gaze upon him and it was safe to say he was terrified.

"Who are you to be called friend by my son?" Her tone was regal, less soft as when she spoke to Taehyung.

"I don't know, I'm just a baker. Your son said he wanted to be my friend so I accepted." Jimin responded truthfully.

"He is a great baker, he made all the pastries for today." Taehyung inputed.

His mother gave him a sharp look for speaking out of turn, but Taehyung stood his ground. His mother's eyebrow quirked up.

"Everyone out I wish to speak with the baker alone" her voice was full of authority and demanded obedience.

The whole room practically scattered as they scrambled to get out of the room. They were probably thankful of a good excuse for a break. They had been working the entire 6 hours of the banquet, constantly filling the plates and serving. They were all exhausted.

Taehyung stayed, but one look from his mother had him sending Jimin an apologetic look as he too departed from the room.

"I am Lumi, Queen of Aureathen, and what is your name?" She spoke clearer this time.

"Jimin your highness" Jimin responded, dropping into a bow as he addressed her.

"No need for bowing. You must be special" her voice was curious and Jimin could practically see her think.

"Special your Highness?" Jimin asked, wondering what she seemed to be thinking about so hard.

"You must be special, your the first and only person I've heard Taehyung call his friend. He met you less than a day ago, I would know he has only been in Batia once before this and he was too young to leave my side." Lumi stated.

"I don't know either. He just asked, was rather insistent upon it actually your Highness" Jimin spoke truthfully.

"Yes well my son's mind is not any easy one to read. Now let's try one of these pastries my son was boasting about." Lumi walked over to the bench, she was easily a few inches taller than Jimin.

Jimin slid over the tray with the latest batch of rabbit meat pastries, they were still warm from the oven, but they should be a manageable temperature to eat.

Lumi chose one, Jimin could see her hands were heavily scarred as she reached for the pastry. Calluses lining the inside of her hands, it was clear she didn't sit on a throne all day as the King and Queen of Batia did. They were the hands of a woman who knew physical labour.

Lumi took a bite, her face was neutral so Jimin had no idea of her true reaction. But then she turned and looked Jimin directly in the eye.

"You certainly have a talent, I can see why Taehyung likes you." She said. Her eyes crinkled at the sides, with her joy.

"Thank you your Highness" Jimin bowed, accepting the praise offered.

"No bowing, it would honor me if I could call you my friend." Lumi spoke with sincerity, Jimin could tell.

Jimin's eyes widened as far as they could, a Queen wanted the 'honor' of calling him friend. A prince was one thing, but and actual Queen was another thing entirely.

"I would be honored too my Highness" Jimin responded, some how being able to speak clearly, not stumbling out his words in a nervous gesture.

"Oh please call me Lumi, it is after all my name" the Queen smiled.

And with the smile, the wrinkles around her eyes vanished and she looked several years younger, her smile was boxy, just like Taehyung's. She looked radiant and Jimin couldn't help but admire this powerful woman.

"Now do you have any more of those pastries, I should like to take some to my room to share with my husband. He will love them" she sounded excited, youthful.

Jimin couldn't help but smile at her energy, but he helped her make a plate to take to her quarters.

"See you around friend Jimin, and please try and make sure my son doesn't get into any trouble. I'm counting on you." Then she was out of the door and the servants were returning.

Who else love Lumi? Cause I absolutely adore her.

She is like the Carmine of the Well sugar world, but you know less stern, she has more of a playful side.

Funfact:
Aureathens admire anyone who can cook, as a good hearty meal is the best to return to when their kingdom is so cold
