Y/n sat upright in his bed, stretching his arms as he woke up from his deep sleep. Anxiety filled the boy as he checked his calendar.

Today's the day... The cut off for this group of students...

Y/N hesitantly slid out of bed, wondering whether or not he was going to make it.

Chaewon ah and Yena ya already developed their alleles... This isn't fair. I don't want to wait any longer to get into the academy.

While performing his morning routine, Y/n remembered the attempts at manifesting his allele. The time he jumped off the top of a building to see if he could float or levitate, the time he punched a wall as hard as he could to see if he had super strength, or the time he stood in the middle of a field trying his hardest to transform himself or, a part of his body, into something else. Each resulting in either humiliation, bodily harm, or both.

Finished with his daily procedure, Y/n walked downstairs, joining his family at the table.

"Oh, Y/n. Good morning," Mrs. Ahn greeted.

"Morning, Mom."

"How was your sleep?"

"It was nice."

"That's good to hear. Today's the day, right?"

"Yeah. I'm going to try for all of today to manifest my allele."

"Have you tried picking things up with your mind?"

"Many times."

"That's a shame... Maybe it's something relating to your father."

"What can dad do?"

"He can peer into people's minds."

"Hm... I've never tried that."

"Here. Try it on me."

"How does he do it?"

"He just closes his eyes and reads people's minds."

"Hm... Okay."

Y/n closed his eyes, trying everything he could to try to read his mother's mind, ultimately coming up with nothing.

"It didn't work."

Mrs. Ahn frowned.

"I'm sorry, Honey."

"It's okay. There's always spring."

"Don't think like that. I'm sure you'll manifest your allele today. You are around the prime age that it manifests anyway."

"Yeah."

Y/n took a bite of his food, reaching for the glass of water in front of him. However, instead of grabbing it, Y/n bumped it, tipping it off the table.

"Oh crap-"

Y/n reached out for the glass, widening his eyes, when it suddenly stopped in place.

"Y-Ya... That's not you, right Mom?"

"No..."

"That must mean..."

Y/n grabbed the levitating glass of water, trying to move it. Despite his best efforts, the glass wouldn't budge.

"That's weird... I can't..."

Y/n's eyes darted to his sister across the table.

"Ya. Yujinnie... Can you relax your hand?"

Yujin did as told, suddenly putting weight on Y/n's hand.

Mrs. Ahn frowned.

"Y/n..."
