Chapter Five

"You can't use your allele?"

"Or at least, I can't control it."

"So that's what was happening during your examination."

Nako nodded.

"What happens when you try to use it?"

"Something bad usually happens."

"How so?"

"Last time I tried to use my allele, the glass around me shattered, and I passed out. Yesterday, I tried to use it because I knew you guys would be able to take care of things."

Mr. Park crossed his arms as he nodded.

"I see... Let's try something."

"Try something?"

"Yeah."

"Are you sure?"

"Never been surer."

"Okay..."

Mr. Park unfolded his arms, holding both hands in front of him.

"I want you to mimic my hands."

"Mimic your hands?"

"Copy me."

"Okay."

Nako watched as Mr. Park slowly molded his hands together, copying his moves.

"This next one will be the last one."

"Okay."

Mr. Park interlocked his fingers, prompting Nako to do the same.

"Do you feel that?"

"Feel what?"

Nako suddenly bent over as she felt pressure build in her chest and head.

"That."

A few seconds later, the pressure left the small girl's body, leaving her breathing heavily.

"W-What was that?"

"You have quite the allele. Let's call it... Pneuma."

"Pneuma?"

"Yes. You and the purple haired girl have the same allele, right?"

"They're really similar."

"Has she been able to use hers?"

"Yes."

"How does she use it?"

"She does something similar to what you had me do, but she just makes herself stronger. She was the one who taught me what to do yesterday."

"Interesting."

"What did you make me do?"

"You just made use of your Pneuma."

"It hurt a lot..."

"Yeah. I'm going to see if I can help you release it before it builds up and begins to hurt again. Let me explain how it works."

Mr. Park sat down, crossing his legs. As he looked towards the small girl, the man hovered his index finger over her stomach.

"Do you mind?"

"Uh... No."

"Okay," Mr. Park kept his finger hovering over the small girl's torso as he began his explanation, "So, what I assume is you have a pathway that runs through your body. This pathway is what allows you to contain the energy that is associated with your assimilation allele. When you performed the signs that I told you to, you altered your pathways to control the energy within you. That's why it built up in your chest. What I'm going to train you to do is take that build up and give it a way to flow out."
