Chapter Sixty-Four

Kyu extended his hand before Hana, skidding to a stop. From the nearby bushes, a small figure emerged. The tattered cloak she wore covered her frame and her hood blocked Kyu's sight of her face.

"Excuse me," Kyu called toward the girl, "Are you lost?"

The small girl turned to the duo, seemingly standing motionless.

"IZLand troops. Perfect..."

Kyu tilted his head, "What do you mean-"

The boy flew backward just before a sharp current of electricity plunged into the ground where he stood.

"She has runes in her eyes. She's not a normal girl," Hana explained.

Yuri pulled the cloak from around her body, showing the various runes of differing colors lining her body. A smug grin grew on the girl's face, forcing chills down the spines of the pair before her.

Slowly, the air turned dense, forcing deliberate breaths from the lightning duo.

"She's just wearing a plain t-shirt and shorts--where is she from?!"

Yuri extended her hand, shooting another current of electricity from her fingers.

"Hana!!" Kyu shouted.

"Eung!" The small girl replied.

The pair fired their own attacks, a lightning bolt and spear, disrupting the attack. Faint arcs of lightning sprouted from the pair's bodies, linking together before thickening.

"Oh?" Yuri scoffed, "You two were electricity specialists this entire time?"

The yellow glyph planted on her began to glow, prompting Kyu to fire a lightning bolt at the small girl.

"That's too slow!!"

Yuri sidestepped the blast, turning back toward the duo.

The girl is gone?!

Hana blinked behind Yuri with both of her swords trained on the taller's neck. Before Yuri could react, the lightning connecting the pair ran through her body sending violent currents of electricity through her muscles.

I can't move-!!

Like a pair of scissors slicing through thin paper, Hana's blades slid through Yuri's neck. Slowly, Yuri felt her arteries sever--as well as her trachea causing her to activate the purple rune on her left hand, displacing her elsewhere.

Kyu snapped his eyes toward the girl, eyeing her injuries.

So she can teleport.

Stay on guard.

Yuri held her left palm over her neck. In seconds, the laceration severing her neck--stopping just before her spine--closed, seemingly healing all damage caused.

They destroyed one of my runes. How. Dare. They.

"You insignificant pieces of SHIT. How dare you?!"

Yuri bolted toward the shorter girl, activating the green thorns rune on her left shoulder. Before she could get close, Kyu slammed into the girl's back with his foot, springing off of her and next to Hana.

There's something off about her... My leg feels like pins have been shot up its length.

Hana clenched her sword, taking a deep breath. An influx of thoughts rushed into her head from Kyu's, clouding her own thoughts.

There's no use thinking about who she is. We need to deal with her.

She seems strong, should we retreat?
