Rich is head over heels in love with y/n. There's no doubt about that and everyone knows it. Everyone but her, of course. There's only one problem, she has a boyfriend. It seems like everything is okay and Rich would be fine with letting it go so she can be happy if it wasn't for the fact that he knew she wasn't happy with him.

"Richard, get that thing out of my face or I'll break your nose" I sigh, seeing the familiar black and red phone cover out the corner of my eye. He chuckles "What? I'm not doing anything". I glare at him playfully "Put it down, Speight". He grins "Not until you say it". "Say what?" I question. "Come on, you know what. What is it,
Y/n? Say it" He tells me. I shake my head "No, I'm not saying it". He shrugs, humming "Then it's not going away". I roll my eyes, but smile slightly before mumbling "Fine, Dickchat. There, happy?". He chuckles, putting his phone away "Very". I smile, shaking my head. I was about to say something when my phone pinged with a message. Picking it up, I unlock it before clicking on it. As I was reading it, I didn't realise I was frowning a little. It was my boyfriend, Josh.

Where the f**k are you? You better answer me or I'll find you myself. You should've thought twice about running away, girl

Believe it or not he used to be nice. Well, he still is around other people. When I met him four years ago, he was sweet, charming, funny and fun to be around, but something changed somewhere along the way. I'm not sure what, how or why. But he treats me like I ran over his dog when we're alone. He calls me every name under the sun and basically verbally abuses me. But I haven't told anyone. Who would believe me anyway? I didn't love him anymore, but I can't leave him. I'm too afraid his false threats will become true. I know I need help and the obvious thing to do would just be to leave him. That's what anyone would say. But I don't know how to without the fear of him hurting me or someone I care about. It's just easier to stay with him and pretend I'm happy. It's definitely not healthy, but it works.

"Hey, you okay?" Rich asks, bringing me out of my thoughts. "Oh... yeah, of course. I'm fine" I smile slightly. He nods slowly, clearly not convinced "Alright". Despite what the message says, I don't reply. I mean, how do you reply to that? I put my phone away with a sigh.

Later

I was with the girls. Kim, Briana, Ruth and Emily. They always put a smile on my face. "So, Y/n. How are things with Josh? How is he?" Briana asks with a smile. I nod "Things are great. He's fine". She nods "Good, are you coming to the Saturday Night Special tomorrow night?". I smile "Of course. I wouldn't miss it". "Great, are you singing?" Kim asks. I shake my head "Nope, absolutely not". The girls laugh and I smile. After a while, the break was over and we had to get ready for the rest of the panels and autographs.

It was finally time for the Saturday Night Special and I got another text from Josh. He was threatening to find me if I don't come back soon. But technically I didn't run away, I just had a convention to go to. He never hurt me physically, but it was very emotionally damaging. It was difficult to ignore. That's when someone snapped their fingers in front of my face, gaining my attention "Hey, sweetheart. You okay? You've been kinda quiet". It was Rich. I look at him and nod "Yeah, I... I'm fine". I turned my phone off before putting it in my jean pocket. It didn't go unnoticed by him, but he didn't say anything. "So... how's Josh? How come he isn't here?" He asks. "He, um... had to work. Everything's fine" I stutter a little before walking away from him. He followed me since he was going the same way, and he didn't say anything but I could tell he was concerned.

I sat in the audience with Jared, his wife, Gen and Misha, who weren't singing either. I was next to Misha as the concert started. I knew him and Jared pretty well from working on the set with them. They were hilarious and never failed to make me laugh, but I kept feeling my phone buzzing in my pocket. I knew it was Josh, so I tried my best to ignore it. Since he was beside me, Misha heard it too "Don't you need to get that?". I shake my head "No, it's just a random number that keeps calling me. It's probably some old woman who doesn't know how to use her phone". He nods "Okay". Rob introduced Rich to the stage to help him sing 'Superman'. I loved hearing them sing together. As Rob played the guitar, I noticed Rich glancing at me a few times as he sang. And as they were singing, the lyrics began to resonate with me and the situation I was in. As Rich sang a solo part, realisation dawned on me as he looked at me. He knew.

Rob: I am, I am, I am Superman and I know what's happening
I am, I am, I am Superman and I can do anything

Both: You don't really love that guy you make it with now, do you?
I know you don't love that guy 'cause I can see right through you

Rich: I am, I am, I am Superman and I know what's happening
I am, I am, I am Superman and I can do anything

Both: If you go a million miles away I'll track you down, girl
Trust me when I say I know the pathway to your heart

Both: If you go a million miles away I'll track you down, girl
Trust me when I say I know the pathway to your heart

Both: I am, I am Superman and I know what's happening
I am, I am, I am Superman and I can do anything

Both: I am, I am, I am Superman and I can do anything

When the song is over, the crowd cheers but I tuned it out. Richard knew and he just told me through that song. I pulled my phone out and see all the missed calls and texts from Josh. With a sigh, I stood up and made my way backstage as Rich left the stage. I bumped into him there, but I just walked past him. "Y/n, wait. Hold on" He sighs, catching up to me. I don't say anything as we walked down the hallway to the green room. When I felt him grab my wrist, I stopped "Hey, sweetheart. Just stop for a second, okay?". I frown "Rich, leave me alone". He shakes his head "No, Y/n. Not until you talk to me". Tears filled my eyes as I looked at him "What, Richard? What could you possibly have to say to me?". He sighs "Nothing. But I need you to tell me that Josh makes you happy and that he loves you with everything he has. Please, y/n. I'll drop it the second you say the words. Is he willing to give you everything?". My heart thudded against my chest and I swallowed nervously "Y-Yes, he is. I promise, Richie". He didn't look convinced. He crosses his arms, then raises an eyebrow "Prove it". I frown "What?". He shrugs "Prove to me that he loves you with all his heart and will do anything for you and I will let this go". I sigh "Why do I need to prove it, Rich? I know he loves me". He sighs "It's not for me, Y/n. Do you know that, or is that you forcing yourself to believe it?". I avoid his gaze as my lip trembles "Richie, please stop. I know what you're thinking, please don't make me say it. I... I can't". His expression softens "Sweetheart, listen to me, okay? If you tell me, then I can help you. You don't have to do this by yourself anymore. Trust me, I don't want it to be true. But I need you to tell me because this is killing me". I frown "Why do you care so much?". He looks at me and his eyes soften a little as he sighs

"Because I am willing to give you everything he isn't, Y/n".
