Chapter 7: A New Home

(OUM-Trilogy ARC, good ol' days)

Ruby's POV
*hours after evacuation*

I couldn't stop thinking about how F/N punched that Grimm like it was nothing.

Was that his semblance?
How did he fight off all of those Grimm with just pieces of scrap metal?

I have so many questions to ask him, but that can wait. I'm just glad I got to see him again, ever since mom disappeared... it's been difficult trying to talk to other people.

It's easy to talk to F/N but I haven't seen him in 10 years... I don't know what to say to him.

I looked towards him, he was asleep, so was everyone else, but I couldn't sleep, not after what happened recently.

Why did you leave F/N?

*darkness*

Blake: *whispers* hey Ruby.

Ruby: ah! I'm awake! Oh... yeah what?

Blake: *softly* you've been around F/N for a while right?

Ruby: uh, only for a little while. It was a long time ago though.

Blake: when did you first meet him?

This completely caught me off guard.

Ruby: Um... that's kind of a sensitive question...

Blake: come on Ruby, just tell me.

Ruby: ok... it was 10 years ago, I was just 5 years old when I first met him. I was with my family in Vale and a car nearly ran me over, but luckily F/N was there... he... saved me.

Blake: oh...

Ruby: he saved my life and then inspired me to save others, I am glad that he did, I don't know what would  have happened... if he wasn't there. On the day we met, I've decided I would follow his example... I'm still trying...

Blake: Ruby... I had no idea...

Ruby: It's ok.

Blake: is that also why you wanted to become a huntress?

Ruby: there's more to it than that... I was hoping that maybe one day I could search for him after I graduated... but here he is.

We both looked towards him, I couldn't help but notice the bracelet on his arm.

Ruby: 'huh... he's still wearing that thing...'

I noticed that he had a UV light on near him, it looked like the exact same thing that guy gave to me.

Blake: hey Ruby, you should get some sleep, we've got a long flight ahead of us.

Ruby: yeah... ok 'Blake seemed to have some kind of connection to Athena... maybe I should ask her what happened, ah maybe later.'

???'s POV

*Y/N shown through crystal ball*

So this must be Merlot's test subject... I look forward to meeting him. Perhaps he could tell me where Merlot is hiding or help me find him if he doesn't know.

???: Cinder.

Cinder: yes Master?

???: when you get back into Vale, I would like you to keep an eye on this one, but keep your distance.

Cinder: of course, I'll keep an eye on him.

???: Remember, I need this one alive.

Cinder: *nods*
