The Other Side of the coin -2

Varun spent the weekend casually with Sanjana over the phone, concealing his emotions of excitement, irritation and anxiety... He was about to sleep after bidding bye to her and that was when he received a call from his friends gang. It was close to midnight when they began to talk on the group call discussing about their life, family, friends, love life, crush, project and what not... It went on for hours and when they ended the call it was around 4 in the morning. Varun dozed off soon after the call as he was tired mentally and physically..

He woke up after hearing what sounded like a soothing lullaby, but no.. it was a phone call... When he looked into the display of the mobile it was from his team lead and thats when he noticed the time to be 12 in the noon...He quickly attended the call without sparing a second...

TL : Varun... Where are you ! I want you to be here in office within next 20 minutes...

He was not even given a Chance to reply as his TL ended the call soon after whatever he wanted to say, rather order..

Varun refreshed himself in 5 minutes after quickly going through the number of missed calls.. There were 4 missed calls from TL , 9 missed calls from three of his colleagues together and 3 missed calls from Sanjana.

He decided to talk to her on his way to office and headed to office which is a 10 minute ride in Metro.. In a rush he reached the station and that's when he noticed he dint bring his phone... But there wasn't much time for him to get it back. So he thought of going to office at the earliest, resolve the issue and return back to home as soon as possible... But little did he know was, he would be held up there for a longer time than he expected...

It was close to 10 in the night (Monday Night), but they were nowhere nearer to finish off the defect. Managers and team leads were trying to negotiate with the client for extending the timelines whereas the team was running round the clock to close the defect.

Eventhough varun was brain drained with the work, his thoughts never skipped about Sanjana. He was worried that he missed her call and dint even check any of her messages to know the problem, if any. But by that time, he couldn't talk to her as her shift would have started atleast an hour back. He cursed himself for not calling her earlier... It was not that he dint try to call her, he actually couldn't find time to call her due to the back to back triages. So he decided to inform his mom and asked her convey the message to Sanjana...

Varun : Amma... Varun here... Amma I'm still at work as we haven't finished the issue yet.. Please inform Sanjana that I'm at work and would call her once I'm back. But don't spill anything about the surprise. I would somehow finish this off along with my team and come there at the earliest..

Varuns Mom : Hmmm okay Kanna.. But Whose number is this ?

Varun : This is my friends number ma...

Varun Mom : What happened to your mobile da ?

Varun didn't listen to the last question as someone over the team signaled him to join the others in the conference room... When he was about to bid bye, he noticed his friend's phone was draining out of charge...

Varun : Charge illa ma... Okay take care.. Bye...

Varuns Mom on the other hand thought that his mobile was out of charge and that's why he called from his friends number.. (creating a confusion in Sanjana's mind)

It was indeed a sleepless night for the whole team... Everyone at the team worked sincerely to get the job done and their hard work dint let them fail... It was Tuesday late evening when they could wind off.. The manger and team lead addressed their team thankfully. They were offered with dinner and granted off for the next day... It was declared as the last day for varun considering his hard work. Varuns Manager appreciated him saying "He could have easily neglected our request stressing his personal reasons, he decided to be professional by working beyond his movement date..Keep up the good work wherever you go... All the best champ".
