Kate heard the keys in the door, Buck walked in preoccupied on the phone. He handed Kate a paper bag, still rambling on about how his morning was quiet.

Kate opened it and smiled as she pulled out a bagel, it was as if he read her mine, she whispered a thank you and took a bite. Unexpectedly her mind had decided she didn't want the beagle. She swallowed the bite she had take - with a struggle.

Buck had been on the phone, rambling something to chimney.

"You not hungry?" He asked

"Apparently not" Kate sighed, pushing the bag away from her.

"You okay?" He worried, sitting down

"Yeah, just as not hungry as I thought"

"you sleep okay ?" He asked Kate, he had heard her stir a little in the middle of night and she was asleep when he left.

"What was all that about, did it not go well last night which chim and Maddie?" She asked, ignoring his previous question. Kate had been having dreams - or rather, nightmares.

"Uh, Maddie didn't say it back explained why but all of a sudden she said it to him and then hung up and he said 911 wasn't answering, so now he is worried"

"I'm sure everything's fine, she might have just turned her phone off or something" Kate shrugged,

Buck only nodded, he chewed on his nail and stared at his phone.

"You're worried aren't you?" Kate asked

"She always keeps it on, and 911 usually answers"

"How about you call Maddie an I try josh" she suggested

Buck nodded , he tried Maddie on his phone but it went straight to voicemail. Kate tried to Josh but there was no answer from him either.

His phone chimed seconds later, only for it to he chimney

"Yeah, what's up" he answered

"I'm gonna go down there, do not try and talk me out of this. I need to go down there for myself and make sure that she's okay.

"Yeah, no, she... she didn't pick upwhen I called her either."

"Yeah I tried josh and it went straight to voicemail" Kate said

"Now I'm definitely going."

"What if something is wrong?" Buck asked, Kate rubbed his arm hoping to reassure him. She wasn't sure how much reassuring she could do when she was just as worried.

"Maybe we should call the police."

"I think someone already did"

After explaining everything to Athena, starting with Maddie's abrupt confessing of her love and ending with the fact that no one - including 911 - was answering their phones, she agreed to call the captain and see if he could look I or whatever was going on

"What is she saying now?" Buck asked

"Now she's foldinglike a cheap suit."

"All right, let me talk to Athena." Buck demanded

"Captain needs to make some calls. As evidence goes, an "I love you" is less than convincing."

"But they sent you downto my apartment for an assaultwith a deadly onion. That feels more convincing." Chimney pointed out

"Well, she's gonna talk to Operations, see if they can get eyes in the building, see if anything's wrong."

"No, no, no. We can't just send in SWAT. If there is someone inside the call center doing something, they'll know we're onto them." Buck hurried
