A/N My rant on parents in fanfics and stories

Why are there so many fanfics and stories that have the main character have abusive and neglectful parents and relatives? It's something I've seen so many times that I've grown sick of it, but it's so used that everywhere I look for a specific fanfic it always tramples down to abusive relatives. Can't people get creative when they make up family relatives? That also reminds me, why in some stories does the main protagonists' parents always die in a tragedy and that leaves them to fend for themselves? Personally, I've seen these themes all the time and it's everywhere and I've gotten sick of it, why can't there be stories with loving parents or at the very least family issues that don't revolve abuse but simple parent issues, like their relationship isn't as strong anymore, they've had a divorce and they have joint custody, stuff like that. That'd make a more interesting idea, don't you think? Regardless, here, type what you think of this topic, I'd like to read your thoughts on it.
