I mechanically and methodically wash my body with our bar of soap, rinsing off beneath the limited supply of warm water. Handing it off to Ash, I take a peek outside the moldy curtain. No guards today. We've been good. Complacent. But we did something. We must have. Otherwise, why were we sent to his room today. There was no way he could know what we were planning. I look over at Ash, silent tears escaping his eyes and washing down the drain. Reaching over I turn the shower off, and gently pull on his wrist.

"Today is the day," I say, grabbing his face.

"I don't know Aspen... maybe he knows something. He was rougher than usual, and we haven't seen Mr. Ivanov in a week."

"No. Today is the day. I'm sure of it. We're getting out of here."

Drying off we get dressed in our dirty clothes, and take a seat at the corner of our 'bed' , which is really just a few thin blankets on the concrete floor.

2 hours later, our main guard, Julian, comes to collect us for lessons. I subtly flinch as Julian steps towards me, but he catches it and smirks to himself.

Walking down the damp staircase to the library, I look over at Ash in anticipation. If Mr. Ivanov wasn't here, the plan was off. The doors creak loudly as we walk in, Julian guiding us in with his hands on our lower backs. Tensing at his touch, i quicken my pace, pulling Ash along with me. I let out a sigh of relief when I see a dark head of balding hair through the bookcases.

"Ivy!" I whisper shout, coming up beside him, " Where have you been?" It was then that I noticed the harsh purple bruises all over his face, and blood freely bleeding from cuts along his arms. Over the past few months, with Ivy as our personal tutor, we've grown attached. I saw him as a father figure, and so did Ash.

"The plan is off. He knows." I look over to Ash, as his face pales.

"It doesn't matter. The plan is still on."  They both look at me like i'm crazy, but it had to be this way. I couldn't let anyone else get hurt. If he knew, than he was coming, and either way we  would be punished, maybe even killed.

"Don't look at me like that Ash. We are stronger than that. You are stronger than that. Don't let them get into your head," I say squeezing his hands. He looks down at me with a determined expression on his face.

"Did you get us the stuff I asked for?" I ask Ivy, who just looks at me panicked.

"y-yeah out in the woods near the main roads. B-but i don't think today's the right day..." He frantically looks around, pulling on the collar of his shirt, sweat beading on his forehead. Fuck, that idiot. I give him a cold glare before punching him in the face, spinning him around into a choke hold. Ash crouches down in front of him and rips his shirt in the front, exposing a wire.

" Who are you working for?" Ash asks, glaring harshly. When he doesn't answer,i apply more pressure onto his neck, before he frantically starts tapping my arm to give him air.

"I-I'm sorry. I didn't have a choice. He said this was your last test. But they're not ready yet, i'm s-supposed to stall you. Your supposed to escape, b-before he hunted you back and started to put you to what he called "real work". " We both knew what that meant. He wanted us to be his weapons... and it looks like he thinks we're ready. Ash and I grin at each other viciously. I snap Mr. Ivanovs  neck and let him drop to the floor.

Time to show them the monsters they created.
