The moment my siblings and I exit the car, heads turn and whispers erupt, only amplified when Ash and Aspen step out from behind me. God how I hated the attention, their stares felt like bugs crawling along my skin, begging me to scratch until I bleed. I breath a minuscule sigh of relief when I see Luca ahead, speeding up my steps toward him. He immediately abandons the people he's talking to, allowing me to avoid the awkwardness I would surely develop if I had to go up to him while he was with them. He gives me a bright smile, full of sparkling white teeth, jogging lightly towards me. His dark brown hair was wavy and unruly, just begging me to fix the strands dangling onto his forehead. His muscles bunched through his shirt as he moved, his sinewy olive skin dotted with light freckles from the sun.

" Don't do that." He bats away my hand, which had unconsciously began to scratch at the side of my neck, giving off a flare of bright red, he replaced it with his arm and pulled me in close. And just like that my muscles relax and I'm able to give him a smile in return. With his other hand he grabs my hand and does our handshake, and I take comfort in the rough texture of his warm hand, my fingers still outstretched when he pulls it away. Stupid. My hand flexes slightly, curling back into the side of my body. I beg myself not to lean into his side as we walk side by side, especially when he removes his arm from my shoulder, looking back to the student parking lot. Aspen would be sure to notice. She was too perceptive not too. I didn't want her to get the wrong idea.

" Who are they?"

" My new brother and sister, the girl is Aspen, the guy is Ashyton. They were staying with some family, they recently moved back in." I had rehearsed it all morning in my head, determined not to be the one to unfold the lie perfectly crafted by our family. Luca gives me a slightly skeptical look but drops it thankfully. Chattering on about upcoming sports games and classes.

" You have a track meet tonight right?" I give a nod in response, " what time? I wanna get there before all the parking sports are taken, and see you before you start." I melt. So lost memorizing his features , I realize I hadn't responded, causing amusement to dance in his eyes.

" I know I'm hot Daws but I'd still like an answer," I can feel my face grow hot, how embarrassing!

" Hot! Wow, you sure do have a lot of confidence for someone who wears SpongeBob boxers!" A light dusting of pink spreads across his cheekbones, as he looks around to make sure no one heard.

" Cmon man, you said you wouldn't bring it up again," he groans in dismay, the sound making me have to force myself to think about something else. Anything else.

" It's at 6, I don't know the order we are going on, so as long as you get there by then you shouldn't miss me." He opens his mouth to speak but startles when a force jumps into him from behind. A force with a head of silky red hair, and long milky white legs. Silvia Briar.
