I ran as fast as I could to get away. My mother's voice kept going through my head she wouldn't get out. The next thing I knew I ran into someone. "Oh, I'm sorry." I said getting up. "Hey don't be sorry." The boy said looking up. His hair was a light brown and his eyes were a hazel color. "What's your name?" he asked. "Maddie Andrews. What's yours?" I asked. "Ashton. Ashton Irwin." He said. "Well I better get home." I said turning away. "Wait." Ashton said. I turned. He reached in his pocket and took out a piece of paper and a pen. "Here have my number. Call me whenever." He said handing me the paper. "Thanks Ashton." I stood there looking at the paper while he walked away.
When I got home everyone was in the living room watching something. But the only one who seemed to care that I was home was Luke. I got to my room and called Ashton. The phone rang about 5 times before he answered. "Hello." He said. In that moment I heard his Australian accent. "Hello Ashton." We talked for what seemed liked hours then he said the most bazar question. "Would like to go out for diner tomorrow night with me?" I thought for a minute and said "Yes Ashton yes." I could hear Ash cheering in the background. "Well see you tomorrow beautiful." Then the line went dead. I sat there stunned. There were a million things running through my head. But my thoughts were interrupted by the bing of my phone. I looked down and it was Ashton. The text read: 'One question what's your address?' I unlocked my phone and sent back '129 Clearview St.' He sent back 'Thanks.' I set down my phone and opened my door. I walked out of my room and tripped over Luke. "Luke! Were you listening to my conversation?" I yelled. "No what made you think I was ease dropping?" He said sarcastically. "Yes, Luke I do. And just to tell you now never ease drop again. Got it Luke?" I said putting my finger against his chest. He nodded and ran into his room.
I went back in my room and called Emily. "Hello." Emily said. "Oh my God! Emily you will never believe this!" I yelled. "What, what!" she yelled back. "Okay. So after I finished dinner I got into this big fight with my foster mom and ran out of the house. While I was running I bumped into this really cute Australian kid named, Ashton. Then he gave me his number!" I said. "You're kidding Maddie." She said shocked. "No, I'm not kidding. Then he told me to call him any time. So when I got home I went straight to my room and you'll never guess what he asked me." I said. Emily thought for a while "I don't know. Tell me." She finally said. "He asked me to dinner tomorrow night!" I yelled. "No he didn't!" Emily yelled back. "He did Emily. He did!" I yelled even louder. Then there was a bang on my door. "Go to bed!" yelled my foster mom. "I have to go before my foster mom has my head." I said. Emily laughed. "Alright Maddie. Talk you tomorrow about your wonderful date with Ashton." I hung up and went to bed.
Well I guess you could say I didn't have a peaceful sleep. As soon as I fell asleep I had the worst nightmare. I was back in my mother's room and I could see her dead body. I walked over to the bed and something grabbed my hand. I looked down and my mother's hand was reached out. Then her body sat up and said something "Maddie come to me." I tried as hard as I could to get her hand off but her grip was too tight to brake. "Let go!" I yelled. "Never. I die you die too!" she screamed. Could my mother kill me in my own dream? My dream-self thought. All of sudden a piercing pain went through my lower torso. I looked down and saw a kitchen knife through me. I screamed. Then I woke up still screaming. I sat straight up in my bed and Luke came running into my room. "Maddie? What's wrong?" he asked. No words came out only sobs. Luke then came over and sat on the bed next to me and hugged me. "Oh, Luke. She's haunting me. She's haunting me Luke." I said. "Who's haunting you, Maddie?" he asked trying to calm me down. "My mother." I said sobbing even harder. Luke sat there with me until we heard, "What are you doing in here Luke!" yelled our "mother". Luke stood up and tried to stay calm "She screamed about something and..." he was cut off. "Get down stairs now!" she yelled. Luke ran to the stairs. And I was left alone with my foster mom.
"I was only gone for a half hour. God it's not a big deal! Just get out of my room!" I yelled to her. "No it is a big deal!" she yelled back. "Can I just tell you one thing? Before you go screaming again." I said. "Go ahead." She said standing with her arms crossed. "Well I never wanted to come here and I guess that wasn't my choice now was it. I would rather be with a mother who actually gave a crap about me!" I yelled. "She never loved you! If she gave a crap about you why would she try to hurt you!" she yelled back. That got me. "Get out!" I yelled as I pushed her out of my room and slammed the door. She never loved you, ran through my head as I slid down my door with my face in my hands. "I hate you!" I yelled loud enough for her to hear it. I sat there crying about what my frigging foster mother said 'She never loved you!' Then I got up grabbed my phone and called Ashton. "Hey Maddie." He said. "Ashton I know it's early but could you could come and get me from my hell of a house?" I asked. "Of course Maddie." He said. "Thanks Ash." Then the line went dead.
About a half hour later I heard a car door shut. I ran downstairs right as Ashton rang the doorbell. "Hey Maddie." He said. "Hey. Just need to tell my parents you are here." I said. "I'm leaving!" I yelled. Then I heard my foster mother yell "What no you are not young lady!" Ashton looked at me confused. "I'll explain why my "mother" sounds like she wants to kill me later. Let's just go before she kills both of us." As I walked out the door I could see her stumble down the stairs. But before she made it out of the house Ashton and I were already in the car.
