The Book of Secrets

Chapter 4

Max and Jenny both had English before Lunch so before going to the library Jenny was able to catch him and ask if he was going to come along with her.

“I have football practice, I can't” he grumbled as he walked away from her,

“No you don't it's Friday, you have practice after school” Jenny corrected catching up with him,

“I don't care, I don't want to go”

“Well your coming whether you like it or not, we're all in this together now and you are going to need help” Jenny snapped grabbing his hand and pulling him toward the library.

Jenny entered dragging Max reluctantly behind her and went to join everyone else who were sitting around a small table in the corner of the room, the book was laid out in the middle and everyone was glancing from the book to Kelly who was turning the pages looking for something.

“I don't know how long ago exactly but the book talks about the first warriors and from what I can tell they were the protectors of the world” Kelly started explaining,

“Why did they have the 'ancient gifts' given to them... does it say anything about how to control them?” Adam asked,

“No it just talks about the history and the 'evil' that the warriors fought away” Kelly said,

“Evil... as in monsters?” Jenny questioned,

“Yes, it has some information about the ones the warriors defeated, then it talks about a big battle but then it just stops.... there is nothing else written” Kelly explained,

“So what happened to the warriors?” Rachel asked,

“Well I think they lost the battle” Kelly solemnly answered and everyone was silent. “But there is a map in the book” she added turning the book around and showing it to everyone.

“what is that place?” asked Adam pointing to a red circle in the map,

“I don't know but I think it's important” Kelly explained,

“Oh my Gosh!” Jenny gasped “I think this is a map of our town” she said “Look that field is the pit's and that is where the brook is … which means that our school is there” she explained, pointing to an area on the map.

“It does look like our town” Rachel agreed,

“if your right about the school being there, then the circle on the map is in the forest across the road from the new stadium” Max explained and there was another silence as everyone looked at each other.

“We should go” Zack burst out excitedly,

“I agree, it must be really important and it could help us to understand more” Adam agreed

“I'm up for it” Jenny exclaimed,

“Well what are we waiting for lets go” Zack suggested as he stood up,

“We can't skip class” Kelly protested,

“But it's important” Rachel defended as herself and Adam stood up next to Zack,

“I skip class all the time Kelly, its fine” Zack encouraged with a cheeky smile,

“Well I can't skip class, My parents will freak” Kelly explained,

“Your parents wont find out” Jenny argued as she stood pulling Max up as well,

“we can't get out of school without permission anyway” Kelly pointed out,

“Leave that to me” Zack said and his cheeky smile changed to a mysterious grin,

“You lot can go if you really want to, I will cover for you” Kelly protested,

“But who is going to translate the map? You need to come, Come on Kelly live a little.” Zack taunted her, Kelly sighed looking up at all the faces in front of her,

“I know I'm going to regret this” she submitted.

Zack's 'secret escape root' led them out onto the field outside the school, it took them almost half an hour to reach the stadium.

“I can't believe we are actually doing this” Kelly said worriedly,

“Calm down Kelly” Jenny laughed as they all crossed the road and headed toward the forest. After another ten minuets they came to a clearing in the trees, where an old stone house stood,

“Do you think that this is what the map is pointing to?” Jenny asked,

“A house?” Zack cried in disappointment causing Kelly to giggle and shake her head at him,

“Should we see if anyone lives there?” Max proposed and everyone agreed and slowly walked up to the big solid oak doors.

“Who's going to knock?” Rachel asked as they stood at the door, everyone's eyes glanced at Kelly.

“Well don't look at me” she protested, the house looked quite creepy now,

“Oh your all babies” Max snapped and reached out to grab the big brass knocker, 'Bang Bang Bang' the sound echoed through the house,

“It doesn't look like anyone lives here” Jenny explained after a few moments,

“It's probably been empty for ages” Max added and turned walking away,

“Wait, we can't just leave” Zack protested and everyone looked at him in confusion, “I bet the door isn't even locked” he added as he reached out for the door handle,

“ZACK!” Kelly shouted in disgust as he flung the door open, “I can't believe you've just done that” she cried in disbelief.

“No one lives here” he defended and walked into the house.

“You can't just walk into someone's house” Jenny said,

“What if it was the warriors house” Zack shouted from inside,

“What are you on about?” Rachel questioned as she walked into the house after him,

“Rachel” Kelly shouted,

“Wow Zack's right, get in here guys” Rachel called out and Jenny, Max and Adam entered the house,

“Adam, Max, Jenny” Kelly once again shouted in disbelief, “Let's go, If we leave now we could still make our last lesson” she added

“Kelly come on, you'll want to see this” Jenny shouted and then walked out and pulled her inside the house.

Kelly was dragged to the middle of the foyer where everyone was standing looking at the floor,

“Is that?...” Kelly asked when she saw that tiled into the floor was the symbol from the book,

“I think this place belonged to the warriors” Adam stated,

“In that case I'm going to explore” Zack said turning and walking through into another room,

“Me too” Rachel said as she scurried after Zack.

OK so i know that that was a bit of a boring chapter but it was needed lol
