Bullying is so cliche.
Right?
But it happens every day, no matter where you are. Humans are, to some extent, evil.
We all know someone who has been bullied, or maybe we've been bullied ourselves. But in Astrid's case, bullying is a relatively new phenomenon.
Unlike most students at Aconite Academy, she and Adeline went to a more ordinary school before coming here. A place where being rich was an automatic ticket to popularity. In a society where capitalism is thriving and money is everything, Astrid found herself popular, loved and even admired at every school she went to. Being in the same class, she and Adeline were often compared. Everything from academics to popularity and even sports, everyone compared them to each other because they were the two rich kids at school, which was seen as a golden trait.
Their difference was that Adeline joined later, and she had a fishy past, a family who's income didn't add up with the amount of money they had. A mafia member. She had a sense of mystery to her, and was clearly feared by the student body after the mafia rumors started circling. Astrid was the more honest, pure type. Her money came from her family's corporation, a tech and games company that is famous worldwide. She studied hard to make them proud and hated the fact that people's attention were on her because of her family's money, it only ever distracted her. That didn't stop her from becoming Adeline's rival though, she was dragged into the whole thing whether she wanted it or not.
Because she was popular nothing could touch her. Because she was rich, nothing could touch her.
But at Aconite Academy, everyone is rich. Here she is vulnerable, here it doesn't matter how rich and famous you are. She doesn't like being popular so she didn't try to become anything big, leaving her with minimal friends. When Adeline became leader, that's when things started going downhill.
People heard about her rivalry with Adeline. The school they went to was very big and drama there always spread to other schools, so it's no wonder the rumors ended up spreading once Adeline became leader. There were many rumors, but the ones concerning Astrid also surfaced. Those who heard the rumors took immediate action.
In hopes of winning Adeline's support, students started to show their dislike towards her. Some took it further than others. Over time people started forgetting why they hated her, why they were bullying her. They just continued because they always had. A Big part of the green student body either dislikes her or actually bully her, the rest have no idea who she is. And although winning Adeline's trust was the main reason the bullying started, Adeline never found out. Astrid doesn't know why.
"Are you f*cking kidding me?"
The worst thing is her roommates. In fear of getting on Adeline's bad side, they've been freezing her out and treating her as badly as possible since the green leader became leader. The only one who doesn't is Camilla.
"You went where!? Do you have any idea how much you mess things up?!"
They scream and shout at her daily, fed by the frustration of having her as a roommate. On more than one occasion they have tried to get her moved somewhere else, and every time they have received a no in return. It's almost impossible to switch roommates without proper reason, and this far they haven't found a proper reason. Instead, they are stuck with her, and Astrid is stuck with their yelling and threatening, even their violent grips and pushes.
