April 25th, X820, Fairy Tail, ~10:30pm

Jace tightly hugged his knees to his chest. The loose pants visibly trembled.

His bare toes dug into the soft covers.

The wall pushed against his arched back.

Tears rushed down his flushed, tan cheeks.

Audible gasps escaped his dry lips.

His entire torso heaved with every sob. Even the bed shook a little.

The green t-shirt was soaked with sweat.

Every ounce of vision was blurry.

He felt cool scales slither around his body. They tightly coiled for a moment before loosening up. A tongue flickered in his ear before a large head nudged his cheek.

'So sad, Jace. So sad, Jace,' a voice hissed in his head.

The seventeen-year-old buried his face in his knees.

'Of course I'm sad, you idiot!' he thought, 'I just found out my Big Bro was here at Fairy Tail without telling us! And he stole a sacred book!'

Above his own cries, he heard a knock in the distance.

"Jace? May we come in?" a soft voice called.

"Uh-huh," the teen muttered.

He gathered shaky breaths and raised his head. Jace blinked away the tears as the door opened. Two figures entered and sat on either side of him. Blake slithered away as a rough, large hand rubbed his back while a small, smooth hand massaged his scalp between the purple spikes.

"I can hear all of your feelings, son. But you don't have to cry alone. You know this already," Erik uttered.

Jace swallowed a lump in his throat.

"Y-yeah...I know, old man."

"Jace, honey. Please don't shy away from us. We're here for you. We understand your feelings," Kinana whispered.

'Nice parents. Nice parents.'

'Yeah, Blake. I do have awesome parents.'

Jace felt his dad plant a firm kiss on his forehead.

"Are you going to try to sleep tonight?" Erik asked.

Jace shrugged.

"No idea," he grumbled.

"Would you rather be up here or downstairs?" Kinana offered.

Her son stared across the room. Against the wall sat a long bed with dark purple covers slithering with cartoon snakes. Directly next to the bed was a nightstand that held a lamp with a dark green shade as well as an alarm clock and a picture frame.

Jace stared over his knees.

"D-downstairs, please," he whispered.

He felt his mom caress his chin and lightly kiss his cheek.

"Okay. I'll get the couch ready."

A moment later she disappeared.

Jace's body leaned to the side until his head bumped into his dad.

Erik wrapped his arms around Jace's torso and squeezed him. Jace's shaky hands grabbed onto Erik's hold. Father and son didn't move for several minutes.

"I can hear it. The couch is ready," Erik whispered.

Jace nodded numbly.

Something flickered on the corner of his mouth. The teen giggled.
