First Day

Looking in the mirror, Percy straightens her tie. It was going to be her first day and she wasn't looking forward to it. But without a new job, she couldn't afford the crappy apartment she was currently renting.

She looked fine, she guessed. The suit was still immaculate from when she picked it up at the dry cleaners and with her hair tied back, she looked somewhat presentable. Looking closely at the collar of her suit, she could barely see the thick scar lines peaking out of it. She reaches up and gently rubs her fingers over them, feeling the raised edges.

It couldn't be helped, not unless she wore a turtle neck and that wasn't in the dress code. And anyways, the restricting suit was enough of a pain, let alone the shoes it came with. She did feel slightly bad, this was the second suit she had gone through, the first one tearing at the shoulders when she tried to actually move. Luckily, Wayne enterprises were kind enough to purchase her one that actually fit.

Wayne enterprises, her new employer. It was alright enough, at least she had some kind of experience with violence so the position of a security guard was right up her alley. With a little assistance of the mist, she had the perfect background for a security guard. To be honest, it was the best job she was going to get with her background in this city.

Gotham City, the crime capital of the country, maybe the world. After the war, she moved here, leaving behind everything else. Seeing all the missing campers, and looking at the Athena cabin table without her...it was just too painful. Sally tried to help at first, doing her best at consoling her. But she became smothering to the point of filling Percy with guilt every time she saw her looking at him with that sad look of hers. She loved her mother, but in order to protect her, Paul, and Estelle, she left. Maybe she could protect herself but they didn't stand a chance.

So she grabbed a map and picked the first city that caught her attention. Actually getting to the city was pretty easy, with some help from Posideon. So she got the cheapest apartment that she could and started looking for work. Before Wayne enterprises, she had managed to work in an ice cream shop, burger joint, street cleaner, and a desk clerk (which surprisingly was a front for Penguin so she quit when she figured that out). And then when on her way out of the police precinct after being questioned for her short (three hours) albeit unintentional involvement with Penguin, she saw the flyer.

It made sense that Wayne would advertise a security job at a police station as they tend to get paid crap and were still somewhat trained. It just worked out nicely that Percy had been the one to get the job. With a little help from Posidon translating her experiences into an actual resume that would be believable. And she even aced the interview after she nearly got herself killed by a monster on the way to it. She did raise a few eyebrows when she came in with some gold on her t-shirt and jeans (the best clothes she had). When she was asked about her choice of clothes, she honestly told them they were the best clothes she had. Three hours later she had the job and an order for three suits.

"Alright Percy, you can do this. It's a corporate security job, what's the worse that could happen?"
