"Reservation under White, please."

Jasper stood in front of the concierge desk, watching mindlessly as the woman smiled, nodded then typed a few things in her computer.

The day wore on him, and it showed. His posture was slouched, his eyes revealed indications of tiredness. After the fundraiser, he'd wanted nothing more than to get into an inviting bed.

His family had already retired to their rooms, but since he'd left a little later (courtesy of the free bar) and there was traffic on the way back, he'd gotten to the hotel last.

If he wasn't forced to bring bring Ace everywhere with him, he might've fancied a nightcap, but something told him the guard, (who was probably somewhere wandering, just as tired as he was), would strongly disapprove.

"Yes, I see your reservation. Four of the Aimer Suites for White."

The woman typed something into the computer before she opened the locked drawer where the keys were kept. Her name tag read 'Laura'.

Jasper frowned, if he were any less awake, he wouldn't have caught it.

"Excuse me, sorry, did you say only four?" Jasper caught her attention and she looked back at the computer, then back at him, forcing a rehearsed smile full of perfect teeth.

"Yes, that's right. I have four reservations under White."

That quite literally couldn't be right. Leslie, Lucas, Karla and Jasper. That's four, but his mom should've booked five rooms.

The last room being for Ace.

Karla always booked five rooms anytime they traveled. Seeing as Jasper was the only one with personal security, it was necessary that Ace be in close proximity to him.

"There should be five." Jasper retorted. "Are you sure? Can you check again?"

"Sir," she said politely. "I can assure you there are only four suites under that name. Whoever made the reservation probably just slipped up, it's a harmless mistake."

It actually wasn't harmless, but in danger of sounding like another rich asshole, who Laura was probably forced to deal with daily, Jasper stopped himself.

Instead he sighed, and ran a hand through his hair. Visibly, he was frustrated but he tried to mask it with his tone.

"Can you check under a different name, please?" Jasper tried again. "Acen Pierce."

Laura went back to her computer and did as he requested, but the slight frown on her face told Jasper all he needed to know.

"I'm sorry, nothing." Laura says dejectedly. "But I can assure you our suites ensure maximum comfort-"

"Forget it," Jasper interrupted her and smiled with a closed mouth. "I'll just book another room. Put it on my card."

Jasper went to reach for his wallet, but was stopped by the sound of footsteps approaching him from behind.

He smelled Ace's warm cologne before he saw him in his peripheral vision.

"Everything okay?" He asked impatiently, probably just as eager to climb into bed as Jasper was.

"Unfortunately, sir," Laura addressed them. "All of our rooms are completely booked for the night?"

"What do you mean?"

"I mean, sir," Laura said patiently. "People book with us months in advance to get a room. Unfortunately, we never have rooms available the day of."

Jasper stilled and felt Ace tense beside him as well. It was as if the gravity of the situation fell upon them and settled at the same time.
