You've recently been recruited to the Avengers. 5 years have passed since Ultron was created and Sokovia was destroyed.

You walk into the Compound being escorted by Clint. He introduces you to the team and when Bruce asks you what your powers are you reply with, "y'all know that hedgehog Sonic?" A few members nod their heads. "Yeah, I'm like him, but human... and real." "Translate please?" Tony asks. "I have super speed." You hear someone's breath hitch or just inhale sharply after your statement and you look around and see someone exiting the room as quickly as possible, trying not to draw too much attention to themself. "What was that? Did I say something wrong?" You ask confused, hoping you didn't unknowingly offend one of your team members.  "Nah, kid. Don't worry about it. It's not your fault. I'll go check on her," Clint assures and pats you on the back before going after the girl. "What's not my fault?" you think to yourself.

The rest of your day is spent setting up your room, figuring out training schedules, attending your first team meeting and getting acquainted with the whole team, except for one member. You had been all around the compound and not once did you see the girl that left the room while you were introducing yourself. Not even during lunch or dinner. You thought about knocking on her door but didn't because she obviously was trying to avoid you. But why?

Weeks go by and this girl, who you found out has a name, Wanda, is still ignoring you and leaving the room whenever you're in it. When you zoom into the kitchen to grab a snack, she gets up and leaves. When you're watching a show on the couch and she walks in, she walks right back out. When she's reading a book and you're heading to the elevator to go out, she vanishes. When she's in the middle of a session and you walk into the training room, gone. It's starting to piss you off because you can't figure out what you did wrong.

You then think about that first interaction, well, more of the reaction from her. She practically gasped, but why? She did that at the mention of your powers. Does she not trust people with super speed? Does she not like Sonic? Was she just like genuinely shocked? Was the gasp completely unrelated? WHAT IS HER PROBLEM!?!?!?!

You've had enough of this, so you decide to go knock on her door and confront her about her hurtful and rude behaviour.

*knock*knock*knock* "Wanda, it's y/n. Can I come in?" Silence. You knock again. "Wanda come on, open up. I just wanna talk." Still nothing. "Wanda I'm not here to yell at you. I just want to know what I did that's making you avoid me. Please, just let me in." You were about to leave after hearing no response yet again, but then you hear a faint, "you didn't do anything." She slowly opens the door and you see her figure lit up by the bright hallway lights and you notice her tear-stained cheeks. "Hey is everything okay? I can come back another time if you-" "Nono, I'm fine. Come in."

You follow her inside her dimly lit room and she motions for you to sit on her bed. You take a seat and give her a moment to compose herself. After many minutes of silence, she speaks, "I had a twin brother." She glances at you and you motion for her to go on. "His name was Pietro and he, like you, had super speed." Things started to click in your head as she continued, "after losing my home and my parents, he was really all I had. And then, I had nothing." "Ultron," you think to yourself and she nods.

Your eyes widen at the realization that she just heard your thoughts. "Oh, uhm, I can, uhm, read minds... and move objects, among other things." She says quickly, forgetting that you didn't know about her powers because you never got the chance to know her. "Telepathy, telekinesis and then some? You're pretty powerful, but can you move at the speed of sound?" you ask as you zoom out of the room and come back with a bag of chips. You offer them to her and she hesitantly takes one and eats it. "Thanks," she mumbles and you see a smile start to form on her lips, but it falters soon after. Her eyes start to gloss over as she begins, "I shouldn't have ignored you, and I want to be your friend, but, you just-" Tears begin falling from her eyes. "You remind me of him, a lot. And it just makes me miss him more." She slightly leans into you and you gently pull her into your arms. She buries her face in your chest, trying to muffle her sobs. You gently rub her back and just let her cry in your embrace.

She eventually pulls away and breathes out, "I'm sorry." "You have nothing to be sorry for. This isn't your fault." She slowly nods her head in response. "Does using my powers bug you?" you inquire softly. "I can use them less around the compound if it means you'll talk to me or at least not exit the room every time I'm present." A faint chuckle escapes her mouth and she playfully nudges your arm.

"Of course I would still need to use them on missions, but at least around here I can limit my use of them." "Really? Are you sure?" "110%. I promise it's not a problem." "Well then, that'd actually be greatly appreciated, at least for the time being. Thank you." She smiles at you. You smile back and you both just sit there in comfortable silence both holding each other's soft gaze.

You eventually decide you should head to bed as it's gotten pretty late. You sweetly kiss her cheek before saying, "goodnight, Wanda." You're making your way to the door when Wanda suddenly says, "wait." You turn around and face her. "Could you... stay?"

You nod your head while responding, "of course," and begin to walk over to her. She lies down and scooches over to make room for you and you lie down next to her. You wrap your arm around her and hold her close as you both drift off into a peaceful sleep.
