[Avengers compound, 3:46 PM]

You were curled up on the couch in the common room. The TV was on, but you weren't really watching it, too lost in your thoughts. A few of your team members had passed through, some acknowledging your presence with a quick "hi" and others not even realizing you were there.

None of them realized the state you were in though, that something wasn't quite right, that you weren't okay.

You didn't even really try to mask it at this point. The team was aware that you hit low points often, not really knowing why, but sometimes you yourself didn't know why either, so it wasn't like you could really give them an explanation. Sometimes you called it emotional dysregulation, other times it just felt like something was wrong with you.

You could feel yourself on the verge of breaking down but kept your emotions at bay. You knew bottling up everything was a bad idea, but you weren't ready to feel whatever was bubbling up inside of you.

Your face started to twitch as you tried not to let your emotions run free and take over. You tried taking some deep breaths, but you could feel yourself about to snap as your eyes became watery. You were so wrapped up in your head that you hadn't realized someone had entered the room.

"Hey," a voice spoke.

You turned your head to see a blurry figure of Wanda standing there with a smile that soon faded as she noticed the fresh tears that had fallen down your cheek that you had barely noticed escaped.

Concern washed over her face and she quickly made her way beside you on the couch as you wiped away your tears and kept your head low, not wanting Wanda to see you in this state.

"Do you need a hug?" was all she said.

You looked up at her and slowly nodded your head.

All you wanted at that moment was to be held and she offered that without even asking what was wrong. You knew she could read minds, but she didn't need to know what you were feeling or why to know that you needed comfort, and she was more than willing to give it to you.

She scooted closer to you on the couch and gently wrapped her arms around you. You melted into her embrace and hugged her tightly, maybe a little too tight, but she didn't seem to mind.

Soon the tears started falling again and they fell for a while. Not once did she let go. In fact, she held you closer to her chest. Your tears definitely stained her shirt, but she couldn't care less. Her arms soothingly rubbed your back up and down, not trying to rush you to calm down but to make you feel safe and comforted.

She didn't say anything. She just held you, for as long as you needed.

The sobs eventually subsided and you could hear her heartbeat as your head rested against her chest. You didn't know how much time had passed from when you had started crying until now, but neither of you cared.

Your grip loosened a bit as your muscles were finally able to relax. She ran her fingers through your hair and that action mixed with the beating of her heart lulled you to sleep.

[6:22 PM]

Your body started to stir and you awoke in a similar position to what you had fallen asleep in. Your eyes fluttered open and you realized you were laying on top of Wanda.

You weren't on the couch anymore but instead, on Wanda's bed. The room was dimly lit by the remnants of the sunset that shone through her window.

You felt Wanda's arms move away from you momentarily and she placed something on her nightstand. You looked over to see she placed down a book. With her arms no longer around you, you took that as a sign to roll off of her, not wanting to cause her any more discomfort than you probably already had. Just as you were about to move, however, her arms wrapped around your body and she held you once more.

You moved your head and rested your chin on her chest to look up at her. She caught your gaze and smiled down at you.
"Hi," she spoke softly.
"Hi," you replied with a smile.
"Are you feeling better?"
"Mhm," you hummed with a slight nod of your head.
"Well, I'm glad to hear that."

You turned your head back onto its side and a comfortable silence fell upon you both.

Wanda started drawing shapes on your back with her fingers. "In the future," Wanda broke the silence, "if you ever need a hug, I'm always here."

You didn't respond. You really didn't know what to say. All you did was snuggle further into her chest and whisper, "thank you." She gently kissed the top of your head at your response.

Over the next few weeks, anytime you had felt in need of a hug, you sought out Wanda and crawled into her arms. Some hugs lasted a few seconds, some for many minutes.

It was hard whenever one of you had to go on a mission, but Wanda made sure she would always hug you after missions, whether you needed it or not. You thought it was very sweet of her.

Months went by and even though the hugs were helping, they didn't make everything better. You still struggled to talk about and understand your emotions, but Wanda didn't care and continued to give you comforting hugs.

One day, she was hugging you while you were both sitting on your bed. When you pulled away, you looked into her eyes and got lost in them, your gaze only breaking when it fell for a split second to her lips. Without thought, you leaned in, catching her off guard as she felt your lips on hers. She was about to properly kiss you back when you suddenly pulled away.

Your cheeks turned pink as embarrassment washed over you and you quickly apologized saying, "I- I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have done that." You turned your head away from her and placed your hands in your lap, fidgeting with your fingers.

She gently brought her fingers to your chin to turn and lift it so your gaze met hers again. "You have nothing to be sorry for."

Her fingers under your chin smoothed up your jaw and rounded your ear, tucking some hair behind it. Her hand rested on your cheek and you couldn't help but lean into her touch. She slowly leaned in and you met her halfway as your lips connected. Your hands found her waist as your lips began to slowly dance together.

Needing to be closer, Wanda brought both of her hands to the back of your neck and yours rounded her back, deepening the kiss in the process. You could feel each other's chests rising and falling as your lips moved in sync.

You eventually pulled back to catch your breath and stared into her eyes trying it think of something to say when she spoke up, "never let go of me."

It was at that moment you realized that Wanda needed those hugs just as much as you did and you both meant more to each other than you had originally thought. It felt right though. Being in each other's arms felt right.

"I'll never let go. Ever."
