The weather had begun to get worse, snow dropping at quick speeds leaving many to evacuate, but a small portion still stand at that very gloomy village to the north.
"I don't understand why people are evacuating!" A mother named Lauren stressed while she messes with her bed sheets "they should just adapt to the weather like us" she says in a matter of fact tone.
"But ma!" Her child whined "all my friends are leaving so why can't I?" They pout and the mom looks at the child with a disgusted look.
"I'll have you know! They'll all be dead by sundown!" She shouts making the child flinch.
"Now Aaliyah be a dear and call for my husband" the mom smiles turning to a corner where a familiar brunette girl sat eyeing the ruckus.
"Of course" the girl mumbled before trudging off.
"See you should be more like her! She listens to every rule I say" the mom grins while grabbing the pillows and fluffing them out.
"But she's older than me" the child mutters and the mom scoffs.
"All these excuses, god I'm given grey hairs every day!" She gave an ugly sigh, before the log door is open. In came a strong built figure with peppered hair, his eyes a sharp green and little scars on his face.
"You've called for me sweetie?" He comes over planting a kiss on the mothers forehead which makes her melt.
"Oh yes I have!" She giggles out and the child cringes turning their head to see Aaliyah, she gave a signal saying to come with her. The kid nods and hops off the rocking chair running outside to the girl.
"Hey bud" Aaliyah Crouches down to eye level of the kid. "How about we go collect some wood for todays supper?" She asks and the boy nods. "Alright let's get going Silas." She calls him by his name and he grins following closely behind as they make their way to a nearby forest.
"Aaliyah! Silas!" A loud laugh catches their attention as a person walks out the forest an axe in hand.
"Josiah!" Aaliyah grins and the male smiles back.
"Seems to me like you two need some wood?" He asks putting the sharp part of the axe into the snow leaning on the wood part.
"Yep! Momma and papa are making good food today!" Silas cheered his green eyes squinting a bit.
"Well I bet they will make the best food in this village" Josiah ruffles the boys dark hair before looking at Aaliyah. "Will you be helping them cook?"
"Oh please,I'd burn the whole place down" she said with seriousness but the two boys laugh "I'm serious"
"Oh" the two said in sync before laughing again.
"Well, I'll get you two situated! There's a big storm coming according to old man Colt" Josiah looks to his right the old man being seen on a pedestal talking to a few folk people.
"THIS WORLD!" Colt spat "is going to end! And someone in this village will be the cause of it!!" He shrieks and people gasp looking at one another "THEY WERE NEVER MEANT TO BE HERE!" Colt screams before turning to Josiah. "People like them". Aaliyah looks to Josiah who looks down.
"Don't listen to him. He's just a crazy old man" She reminds while Silas holds onto her closely.
"Why did he look at us? When he said people like them?" The little boy asks and Josiah grimaces.
"It's because we aren't white" he picks his axe up "I'll bring the wood to your house" he storms back into the forest leaving the two alone.
"Let's go Silas" Aaliyah pulls the child back to the house, the old man's yells echoing through out the village.
