Chapter 26-Dinner

I was stunned, listening his words repeat in my head.

Will you go out with me

I bursted out laughing and couldn't stop. Stefan looked confused which caused me to laugh more.

"Oh, you're a funny guy" I said through my laughs as I try to calm down

"I am serious" He stated raising his eyebrows, looking at me like I am insane

"You can't be" I said shaking my head

"Well I am, so alexis, will you go out with me?" He asked again

"Are you crazy, fuck no. You left me and my kids and reappear into their lives and expect everything to go back to normal. I am not going out with you ever" I replied shaking my head in shock. He had the courage to ask me out when he should know my answer already

"Please give me a chance, I want to make it up to you. One date, please" he begged. I needed to get past him but he was blocking the door

"No, now get out of the way. I have to go" I said trying to get past him

"Say yes to the date and I will let you go" he replied

"Stefan, move" I gave him my deadly eyes and he still wouldn't move.

"One dinner and I will never ask you again. I promise" he pleaded with his hand

"You have broken promises before, how do I know you won't break another one?" I questioned

"If I break this then you can kick me out of the guest house" He suggest to which was a good idea. He won't break this one because he wants to stay near the kids

"Fine" I sighed

"Really?" He said excitedly

"Yes now leave, I got places to be" I replied

"Where are you going?" He asked

"Stefan I agreed to the date, now leave me alone" I stated pointing to the door. He shrugged his shoulders and put his hand up defense and mouthed 'okay' and walked out. I finished getting ready and headed out. I had a few meetings at the office to figure out how I am leaving it and transitioning the new managers to their new positions smoothly.

I spent a couple of hours at the office and I was ready to go home. Once I got home I made myself some late lunch

"I made a reservation for 8pm" Stefan said as we walked into the kitchen

"Ok" I replied. I finished my food and went upstairs to take a nap. Before going I tried to talk to Ella which got me nowhere again. There are some days where I feel like we are getting back to normal then one day it goes back to her ignoring me. I get she's mad but I'm getting tired of her attitude.

I ended up taking my nap and then woke up to get ready for the date. I was a bit nervous, Stefan and I haven't had actual alone time that wasn't filled with us fighting or sex.

I put on my a rust color midi dress and grabbed my small purse that goes along with it. I did my makeup and hair and kept it very simple. Once I finished doing everything I put my heels on and went downstairs.

I saw Stefan sitting on the couch with flowers in his hands.

"Hi" I said

"Hi, you look beautiful. These are for you" he said nervously to which made a smile appear because of how nervous he is.

"Thank you, let me put it in a vase" I said as I started walking to the kitchen. I got a vase and filled it up with water and put the flowers in.

"Shall we go?" I asked

"Yeah" he replied. We started walking to his car and ad I approached the door, he opened it for me.

"Thank you" I said

"You're welcome" he replied smiling. He closed the door and went over to his and opened it then slid into his seat.

The drive to the restaurant wasn't too far, the conversation in the car consisted of talking about the kids or work. We didn't know what else to talk about because both of our lives consist of the kids and work.

When we got to the restaurant we were taken to a more secluded spot of the restaurant

"One rule tonight, no talking about the kids. This dinner is about you and I" he said 

"Let's add another one, no sex" I replied

"Fine with me" he smiled. We ordered drinks and talked a bit more about work. 

"What are you going to do after retirement?" He asked

"I have no idea, I can't do much because the kids have school and the twins are in the high school, so they shouldn't switch schools or do online because I want to travel or move." I said

"But you've sacrificed so much, why don't you finally do something for yourself?" He asked

"I will eventually, once Anthony goes to college I will do what I want to do" I replied

"That is going to be a while. In the summer, we can do a big trip across Europe" He suggested

"Maybe, it just depends on what's going on during that time. Ella isn't talking to me and I don't know when" I said

"Hey, no talking about kids" He pointed to me 

"Come on, Ella should be the exception. The girl hates me and she loves you. Please help me with her, it's hard enough with everything going on in my life" I pleaded 

"I have been trying, she's very stubborn. Ella reminds me of someone" he replied

"I am not stubborn" I exclaimed

"That's what stubborn people say" he shrugged

"Whatever, but you have to help me with Ella" I replied

"I will, don't worry she will come around" he said

"I hope" I mumbled. The waiter came around and we ordered food. We continued our conversation and it was nice. After talking about Ella, we discussed some more about work and then some random topics and catching up from when he was gone. He is still shocked that Aaron has kids, Matthew found his family, Julia is married and so much more. After we finished eating and had dessert we headed home. 

As we approached home, I realized tonight was actually fun. We would make jokes and he would make me laugh so much, it honestly felt like I was young again. I didn't realize I would feel this free again. I have been on dates before, it's just never been this exhilarating and we only had dinner. 

Once we got home, Stefan dropped me off to my room door

"I had fun tonight" he said

"Me too, dinner was great" I replied looking at his eyes. Those beautiful eyes I fell in love with when I was 18. He was staring back at mine and continue to stare at them

"Can I kiss you lexie?" He asked. I bit my lip, I do it when I am nervous.

"Yes" I nodded my head as I get on my tippy toes to reach his height.  He grabbed my hips and I wrapped my arms around his neck. Our lips collided, his sweet soft lips on mine. Our lips detach and plant my feet on the ground.

"I will see you tomorrow?" He asked

"I will see you tomorrow" I confirmed.

"Goodnight" He said slowly walking away 

"Goodnight" I replied walking into my room. I walked into my bathroom and turned on the light. I look at my reflection to see I was blushing

Stefan made me blush

Stefan made me feel like myself again
