"A new webbed vigilante has appeared around New York City," the news person announces as I eat my breakfast before school. "They have been spotted throughout the city, but the real question, are they a friend or a foe?"

"Hey, stop getting distracted or else we're going to be late," Sam scolds as he turns off the tv, "it's my turn to drive today, so we should get going." I jump off of the stool and grab my backpack from the kitchen floor. The drive to school was surprisingly slow.

"C'mon, some of us have things we need to do," Sam groans as we wait in traffic.

"Is there a car accident?" I ask, surveying the street around us.

"I dunno, but something is up," Sam tells me. I get to school about half an hour late, but so does everyone else. Well that's everyone else but Gwen. It must just be traffic. I go through the morning alone, still no sign of Gwen.

"Where's Gwen?" Peter asks me in Math.

"I think she's stuck in traffic, but I don't know," I shrug, "wait how do you know her? I didn't think your two groups mixed with each other."

"We used to be neighbors, before May and I moved," he tells me, "well i'm going to lunch, bye." I wave back and go to my locker to get my lunch box. C'mon Gwen, I don't want to be the loser who eats alone. I walk to our spot and start to eat. Not long after I sit down, she shows up.

"Sorry, traffic was crazy," she tells me as she takes a seat in the chair next to me.

"Holy shit, what happened to your face," I exclaim as I see a giant scar trace the side of her face.

"My cat," she looks away and her eyes twitch.

"You're lying, what actually happened," I point out.

"How the fuck did you do that, I swear it was nothing," she reassures, "what did I miss?"

"Really nothing, do you want to find a good time to work on the project for biology," I ask.

"Okay, I'm free this afternoon, I'm honestly free every afternoon," she smiles as she opens her lunch box.

"Same, I'm not one for social events," I tell her.

"Okay, my place or yours?" She asks.

"My parents are super strict, can we do yours?" I suggest, she can't know I live with fucking superheros.

"Shit, my dad is the same, what if we just meet up somewhere else?" She proposes.

"Sounds like a plan, there's this coffee shop that looks cool, I'll just have to find the address," I tell her as I open my laptop to research the coffee shop, "here it is. It's a cat cafe on the lower east side called Koneko. Let me text my parents to see if I can come home later."

"Okay, sounds cool. I'll do the same thing," she smiles as she takes out her phone.

Is it okay if I hang out with a friend after school for a project?

Nat

Stay safe, be home by 6:00

Sounds like a plan, can we just keep this between you and me? Thanks

"Okay, I'm good, how about you?" I ask Gwen as I take a bite of my sandwich.

"My dad says I can, so we'll just walk there after school," she responds right before the bell rings, "I have a club meeting during the last block, so I'll just meet up with you after school."
