TEN

Ruby's and Audrey's laughter filled the silent halls of Auradon Prep as they run hand in hand. They talked on the stairs for a bit more, both confused on why Audrey was crying over Prince Ben in the first place as they had each other. Ruby had never felt this feeling before. She felt like she was soaring. She felt like she was in the clouds but for once her eyes weren't red and her lungs weren't heavy. 

Audrey drags Ruby by the hand and leads her back to the tourney field. Ruby stands back as she lets Audrey storm towards Mal and Ben, snatching the microphone from their hands. 

"I'm going to the coronation with Ruby Queen. I no longer need your pity date Prince Ben" Audrey shoves the microphone back into the Prince's hands, after spitting his name like venom. Mal, Evie, and the other two VKs look at Ruby as she looks at Audrey with adoration. As Audrey walks down the steps, Ruby meets her in the middle, worshiping the ground the pink princess walked on. 

Ruby wraps her hand around Audrey's waist, smirking as people start to point and whisper. They walk side by side not caring about the rest of the world as they make their way to Audrey's room.

Upon entering, Ruby notices that their rooms were very similar except Audrey's was covered in pink. Ruby sits on the bed as Audrey walks into her closet. 

"What are we doing here?" Ruby asks aloud as she looks around the room. 

"I'm planning what dresses we should wear for the coronation" 

"Dresses? As in for the two of us? I'm not wearing a dress sweetheart" 

"Rule #26, all princesses must wear a dress. It's the oldest rule in the book" 

"Then it would have been Rule #1," Ruby replied wittily. "Also, I'm changing that rule once I become Queen."  Audrey walks out of the closet and places a pile of dresses on the bed beside Ruby. Most of them were pink but a few blue, green, and red ones stood out in the pile. 

"You wear clothing that isn't pink?" Ruby asks sarcastically. Audrey pouts playfully and sits on Ruby's lap. Ruby holds onto Audrey's waist so she doesn't fall off. 

"My fairy godmothers bought me those on my 16th birthday. They couldn't agree on a color so they got me one of each." 

"I'm sure you look beautiful in any color" 

"I look hideous in orange" 

The two teens laugh and smile at one another lovingly. 

Ruby is the first to break the silence, "Let me take you on a date"

"Are you asking or telling?" Audrey asks, but a smile is evident on her face. 

"Princess Audrey," Ruby says in a formal tone, "Will you do me the honor of taking you out on a date?" 

"Of course," Audrey says. Audrey grabs her phone, takes a selfie with Ruby, with the red-haired girl kissing her cheek. Her phone clicks as she types out a caption. 

"Going on a date with the future queen of Wonderland" and she hits post. Almost immediately her phone starts blowing up. People commenting, messaging her, her friends asking her when did their relationship happen, and asking her when did she and Ben break up. 

'dumb girl, you were spelled!'  a voice inside Ruby's head yells. 

'snap out of it' 

'you don't love her, it's all fake'  the voices are jumbled and overlapping one another. Ruby can barely decipher what they are saying. 

"Stop it! It's real, this is real. You guys are the ones who are fake. You're just in my head" 

'no. we are real, the love you have for each other is fake. it will wear off soon. don't forget why you came here' 

"Stop it!" Ruby yells aloud, causing Audrey to look at her worried. 

"What's wrong my love?" 

Ruby can't respond, she can't hear her. Her head is pounding making her groan loudly. Her arms raise and close around her ears as she tries to stop the yelling. 

"Make it stop!"

 Audrey gets up from Ruby's lap and runs to her fireplace. She rings the bell alerting the maids around the castle. Audrey opens the bedroom door and yells into the hall. 

"Get fairy godmother! Now!" 

"Please make it stop!" Ruby feels something wet falling down her face. Audrey goes and sits down next to her, hugging the girl in place to let her know she is there.

"Make what stop?" she asks. 

"The voices" Ruby whispers back before she passes out from the pain.
