I throw my phone aside on my table and groan, pulling at my hair. I've been trying to join this coven ever since I graduated, but it's always the same thing. They want me to wait. They don't think I'm ready.
But why should I wait when I know exactly what I want?
Becoming a sorcerer is all that matters. The prestige that comes along with it is nice and all, but what I want is how it'll make me something more. When I look at my reflection, I want to see gold, not purple eyes staring back at me. I'll see the same eyes staring at me that looked at me when I was just a child, the eyes I have been missing for so long.
My eyes fall closed.
How can I get into that coven?
I lean back in my seat and mumble a spell, my history book levitating and flying over to me, flipping through pages before a particular passage glows and jumps off the page.

My breath hitches as I continue to research, learning that familiars have animal forms and how they can help mages out, and being around them can even heighten our own magical abilities. If I were to get a familiar, then I could get better. I could prove myself to Sorcerer Kim and Warlock Jung.
Quickly, I grab my phone and open Twitter, accessing the magical side of it, where mages and other magical folk can communicate without the prying eyes of non-magical people. I access Warlock Jung's Twitter and scroll through his posts, finding him with a Maine coon cat and a tiger. There are also situations when he is with two other men who look similar to those animals.
Afterward, I go to Sorcerer Kim's, finding his posts filled with a white owl and a particular man. So both of them have familiars...
I scrunch my nose up. Having a familiar that takes a human form is unnecessary. I'd rather not deal with that. Having a simple dog or wolf-type familiar would be enough. Maybe a snake would be cool, but all I know is that I definitely don't want a cat. Cats are stuck up and annoying. Hairballs and having a litter box are disgusting. No thanks.
But a familiar more my style, now that is something I am interested in.
