"Thank you Mr Kinsey, I'll be sure to be in touch soon. Bye."
I remove the phone away from my ear and click on the red button to end the call, my eyes watching my screen switch to my lockscreen.
"Who was that?" My friend, Kai, asks as I approach the cafe table we're currently sitting at.
My phone slides across the wooden table as I release it from my fingers. "That was an associate of the royal family," I explain, pulling back the chair and taking a seat. "They have requested for me to be their bodyguard. He said they'll disclose more information once I've accepted."
Kai's dark eyebrows raise "You're kidding?" I shake my head and then he nods his. "That's amazing, man. Are you going to accept?"
I watch as he carefully picks up his cup of peppermint tea and takes a sip, even though I know it's cold. We've been sitting here for at least half an hour, why he never drinks it hot is beyond me.
"It's long hours," I stretch my legs out, leaning back into the stiff wooden chair. "I have to live with them in the castle. Good money though, so that's one thing."
"What exactly are you guarding?"
"The Princess, apparently."
My arms fold across my chest and Kai's eyes follow my actions. "Princess Everly?"
