Throughout the whole dinner all I could focus on was Grayson's words, knowing that I can spend the rest of the day with him once Philip goes and my father is no longer interested in being around my presence. Always dismissing me with Grayson but I don't mind, in fact he's doing me a favour. And right now I'm wrapped up in Grayson's arms, both of us facing the wall of books with the fire burning on full blast. A soft and thick blanket over our bodies as he holds me tight, arms clung to mine and his lips kissing the top of my head every so often.
We haven't spoken much since I came down here because I didn't really know what to say. I'm still traumatised from feeling Philip's dry and flaky hands on me, his predatory words that have me shivering to my core.
I will never be his. I will never be his property or belong to him. God forbid the wedding, I'd rather sabotage everything and risk getting killed than endure a whole life with him, just thinking about the things he would do to me. If he forced me.
My eyes clench tightly and I release a soft breath, holding onto Grayson's arms and snuggling closer into his chest at the thought.
Grayson is the only person who makes me feel safe. His warm hands and gentle embrace have me feeling like home, I can find peace within him. Even if I know my future is against me, at least I can enjoy this for now.
