I've been quiet all day, even Grayson has noticed. I'm still trying to process what he told me this morning and I've felt sick to my stomach ever since. These people I thought who saved me from living a life in foster care actually are the ones who want to destroy every part of me.
They never cared. All they care about is fixing whatever they've screwed up in the first place. I'm just their pawn in this game, something to solve their riddle. Fuck me over whilst their lives continue.
How have I fallen into this life?
They're monsters. Actual living, breathing monsters and I cannot get away from them.
Fuck Richard, the thought of even calling him dad again has my skin crawling. And fuck Philip, God help me when I end up married to him. But I'll make his life hell, make him regret ever deciding to do this to me.
The consequences might be worse than anything I've experienced before but what will I have to live for? Certainly not him.
After eleven, Grayson comes to bed with me and we lay beneath my sheets, he's holding my hand and he hasn't pressed me for my thoughts even though I've been distant. Actually distant is an understatement, might as well be on another planet.
"So I didn't mention this earlier," his deep voice catches me by surprise.
I blink once and then turn my attention towards him. "Mention what?"
